Dear DISers,
I desperately need your help ASAP!! It is a long story, but I have not been in my gym class the past couple of days, and today, my gym teacher gives me this worksheet on things they have been doing in gym class, and it is worth half of grade! :confused3 And I have no clue what the answers are!!! :confused3 If you have any info on any of these, you will be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

1) Why is it important for players to roll the ball under the net when the opponent has scored?

2) There are many physical skills that a player must possess to play the sport of volleyball. Name three of them.

True or False

3) Teams should rotate when they first receive the ball to serve.
4) When jumping to block or spike a ball, the player must not touch the net.
5) If the ball strikes the line during play it is in bounds.
6) When the ball strikes the ceiling on the opponents side, it is still in play.

7) In an eight player rotation with no one on the bench, how would you rotate? Use arrows to demonstrate.

You know, I think it's kind of unfair that you're asking for the answers. It should be an independent effort..

Just my opinion..

I'm answering this anyways.

1) Why is it important for players to roll the ball under the net when the opponent has scored?

Simple. So you don't hit your team (they aren't facing you) or the people on the other team. The whole point is, sure you can throw a ball, but you never know where it's going to land.

2) There are many physical skills that a player must possess to play the sport of volleyball. Name three of them.

If you are asking about qualities you must have physically: Eye hand coordination, speed, and you must be able to predict where the ball will land.

BUT if you are talking about the moves you make with your hands and arms to hit the ball they are:

Serving. If you can't do this, then you won't be playing this sport. Your team can only have so many subs in a game.

Volleying. This is important for when the ball if more towards your forehead instead of out in front of you.

Bumping. This is important when the ball is very high so you either back up to bump it, or it's already in the perfect spot ahead of you.

True or False

3) Teams should rotate when they first receive the ball to serve. As in the other team doesn't return the ball so it's your serve? Yes, YOUR team only should rotate.
4) When jumping to block or spike a ball, the player must not touch the net. True. Don't touch the net. Ever.
5) If the ball strikes the line during play it is in bounds. True
6) When the ball strikes the ceiling on the opponents side, it is still in play. False. That is called a dead ball.

7) In an eight player rotation with no one on the bench, how would you rotate? Use arrows to demonstrate.

That doesn't make sense. You can't have two people in front of the server. I've always played six player, in the W shape. With a setter, server, middle position, two blockers and one extra. The reason being, the server moves up after serve. There's no room for that extra player.

With six people you rotate clockwise I believe. I'm not entirely sure on the positions because when we play in class we play it simple, but on the team, it's kind of confusing how it works. The setter is probably the most important person out there, though it really is a team effort.

Thanks to everybody for their help!

Everyone else has the right answers... but an 8 player rotation... no possible through all of my knowledge... The only thing that could even make me think to 8 is if you are running a 6-2 defense... but still only 6 people on the court... soo... I would ask your teacher about that one, or just put "IS THIS A TRICK QUESTION?!??!"
