We are so excited to begin planning our trip for next summer!:cool1:

Our ds will be almost three at the time. Right now, he is not the type of baby who can share a room...he is a light sleeper and would wake with a tv on etc. any suggestions on rooms? We're wondering if we should save to get two rooms or a deluxe room at wilderness lodge.

Also, in terms of number of nights-any suggestions on what a good number of nights for a first trip for our ds would be? We're flying in from ca, so one day is dedicated to travel.

Thanks!

When our DS was 2 1/2 we went for 10 days, I didnt want to rush through the parks, a suite at the new AoA may be perfect for you, CS has jr suites, the cabins at FW may be a great choice too! With the cabins you get a boat ride to MK, also the petting zoo is there and your little one will just love that! WL deluxe room would be nice too, idk what your budget is, but those are just some ideas

My kids have been 15 months, 22 months & 2 1/2 for each of their first visits.

What I can tell you is that they are so tired that they just pass out. My oldest would fight naps but as soon as her head hit the pillow she was out.

We have had the lights & TV on at 10 or so at night when we returned from the park & we'd put the kids in their pj's (or they would) & send them into bed & turn around & turn back & they'd be passed out asleep.

Heck my oldest was 7 one trip & she took a mid day nap. I had a hard time waking her for evening park hours.

DH & I also do deluxes so we have the room to sit outside on the balcony/lanai if we need to. We lock the front door & leave the slider opened a crack to hear any noises.

As far as days you want to go, you need to decide which parks you want to go to. If you decide to do 4 park days I would plan on a day 'off' in the middle. Mom & dad need time to recoup as well, or at least dh & I do. Plus I wouldn't go crazy on arrival day or departure day with a park. Keep it a low key pool day & go to a character meal.

Just have fun & go with the flow of your child.

When we went a couple years ago, our kiddo was 3. We only went for 4 days of parks (though are much closer travelling-wise). Flew in and a partial day of Epcot, one day of rest and having fun at the pool, one day at MK and one day back at Epcot, flew back the next morning.

We kept it simple and made sure to come back in the middle of the day for some rest and relaxation. Can't recall whether that included any naps. :scratchin We stayed at the Poly -- though the rooms are huge, I'm not sure this would work with your kiddo being a light sleeper. Mind you, a LOT can change in a year! (One of the biggest bonuses to the Poly we found was how convenient the transportation was.)

I think limiting our park days to one-a-day and incorporating a rest day made it very enjoyable and relaxing for that first trip.

Have fun planning! :goodvibes

If your child absolutely can't sleep in the same room because of light and noise, then I think one of the family suites would be a good choice since they have a separate bedroom. These are at ASMu or AOA and would most likely be an economical choice. You could get 2 adjoining rooms at a value or mod, , but might be faced with a problem if the request for adjoining couldn't be granted. A deluxe room at WL would most likely be your most expensive option. It all depends on your budget.

As for length of stay - we always stay for 7-8 days. This allows us 1 or 2 days at each park and a non-park day in the middle. We aren't trying to cram too many things into too few days that way.

I'd set a budget then work your trip into that :) You have lots of options really with a small child it just depends on how much you want to spend on your room

How many people are traveling in your party? Unless you have more than 3 adults I don't think I'd pick 2 rooms.

Are you looking for a value, mod, or deluxe?

You might consider renting DVC points and getting a one bedroom. You'll get a master bedroom and a living room w/ a full kitchen which is beneficial for snacks and keeping drinks cool with little ones. Plus you'll have a in-room washer and dryer.
