I am going to make a memory scrapbook for my daughter's teacher - Have any of you done this before? Just looking for ideas and ways to make simple (but not too simple that it looks terrible) -

I have looked on the "two peas" web-site and couldn't find anything under that topic -

Just looking for ideas from someone that has maybe done this before!

Thanks!

Karen

Yep! And doing it again for 2 teachers this year!
I bought an 8x8 book top loading.
For kindergarten this is my plann:
first page Year and the name of the class room then I bought a cute cut out paper piecing to go with the theme

each child will have their own page
I will send home and ask the parents to send in a candid or school picture that is about 3x4 or can be cropped (I also tell them this will not be returned)
Then I send them a questionair that the parents fill out (last time I typed the info)
Favorite color, book, best friend, favorite activity etc.....
then on another piece of card stock I printed out What did you like best about Ms.....
then i made school paper under it for the child to write their answer. I told the parents to please use perm ink.
Then I put it all on one page.
I then have the activity pages which are just several pictures of the events and activities through out they year. I used as many group shots as I could.
Hope that helps.
Not sure what my plans are for second grade. I may just do an activities book!

That helps a lot - I already planned on having each child has their own page - I like the idea of the questionare! Did you have a hard time getting these returned?

I have been taking pictures in the class and go on the field trips and take more pictures then - So I don't have to worry about the parent sending in a picture -

8 x 8 sounds like a great size!

This will be my second year doing it! (2nd grade now 3rd grade) I have been in the classroom during different events taking pictures. I have also taken pictures of the school, the grounds, the hallways, etc. Lots of "filler" pictures.

I have a 12 x 12 top loading book for this year. Closer to the end we will send a page and a page protector home with each child. They can add pictures, drawings, poems, a letter, whatever they want. The ones last year were very touching.

I will do themed pages for some of the events - holiday party, valentines day party, etc.

On the last page last year I had the bottom border of a beach and a lighthouse - the teacher loved lighthouses - and I put the saying: No more students, no more tests, now Miss ****** gets to rest! :) If you check around the web ou can find teacher and school quotes. I will try to add a couple this year. Last year the scrapbook idea was thought of during the end of the year - this year we started early.

If you are going on field trips make sure to take pictures. If you can get into the school make sure to take pictures. It helps when you have a lot of photos to work with. I also get double prints and at the end of the year I pass out envelopes to the kids of their pictures.

Hope you have a good time with it! I really want to get started soon with this one.

I did one for DS's pre-K teacher ... and here's what I did.

I photographed each child. Then, I created a page for them w/the background matching the clothing they were wearing or something about the child. ie: one child loved trains, so I used train stickers on his page.

Then, I asked each child to print their first name and I put that under their photograph. Then, I asked the child what they learned from their teacher. Under their name, I typed up what they said and typed their full name.

Then, I made pages that had to do w/different activities from the school year ... field trips, making gingerbread houses at Christmas, the Christmas concert, Mother's Day, Dad's Day in October, Halloween, Easter, Cat-In-The-Hat day, etc.

His teacher adored it! Matter of fact, I ran into her a few weeks ago and she told me she looks at it often!

Good luck w/yours!

I did a class cookbook for DD's Kindergarten teacher. I sent a recipe card home with each child with instructions for the parents to write the child's favorite recipe and return it with a photo of the child. I put them all together and the cookbook was darling!

I use to teach and I got a sprial bound scrapbook from my kids. They all signed it and wrote me messages. I love it! I really miss those kids. :( They are going to be seniors and juniors in HS next year.

Thanks for all the wonderful ideas! I am excited to get started on this -

I am the "Room Mom" for her class so I have been able to take a ton of pictures!

I am thinking of sending home with the students, a questionaire for them to fill out - Any ideas for questions?
