Dear friends,

next february I´ll be visiting WDW with DW & DD. We´d like to try some of the Table Service restaurants at the world, but there is on e thing worring me...

my wife went through a stomach reduction surgery a couple of weeks ago. So the by the time of our vacation she´ll have only three monehts after the surgery. At that time her only dietary restrictions will be fried goods and sugar (not allowed at all). But this problem we can solve by not having desert (at least for her ;) ) and there are plenty of stuff that we can order (I checked the menus at Deb´s site).

My concern is about the portions size, because at that time my wife will only be able to have about 2-3 oz. of meat and 4-5 oz. of other stuff (vegetables, mashed potatoes, etc). Because of that we won´t be doing any Character meals nor Buffets. What I want to know, is if due to our condition, it would be doable order an entree or an entree + an appetizer for both of us. Do they have a problem with that? We really want to have some nice sit down meals but we were worried about that. Any toughts??? TIA

Regards

You can share a meal anywhere on WDW property without a problem. Alot of places will even seperate it in the kitchen. Any of them will bring you an extra plate. Have a great trip! :)

We'll be doing something similar when we go in two weeks. I had the surgery two years ago, and there is still a lot of foods that I can't eat a lot of. We'll be using the connections vouchers a few times where I can share with my son (who has similar tastes) so I can just have a smaller portion from them. I'll be looking for fresher things when eating though at the regular counter restaurants. I still can't handle fried foods too well. They can really fill you up quickly!:) And, we know what you mean about buffets. You can really lose out there big time.:) We'll be doing two while there, but it's more for my family as far as the food goes, and more for the ambience for me.:)
Tell her good luck while there.

thanks for the answers!

At first I was a little bit worried about that, If I´d have the hassle of give any explanations, or hear any comments and stuff like that... but look like they´re pretty used to do that!!!

LuvN~Travel, my wife is trying to talk me in to doing at least one character meal because of our baby... but as it´s just two adults and a baby it would come out really expensive for just one that will really be able to eat... Maybe I´ll check first the reaction of our baby with the characters, and them I may do one character meal...

My mom and I have shared meals, they don't think anything about it. For example, a 14 oz steak at LeCellier, half is enough for each of us. We'll each order a salad and share the breadsticks. When we had the Candlelight Processional package there, we had them box up the leftovers and the dessert and we took it back to BWV for lunch the next day (have a refrigerator and microwave).

Most of the time the servers won't hassle you, but they may try to stuff you before you let them know.;) I find that many of them don't realize and think you should eat more. I've also found that many of them already know someone else who has had it, and understand real well. I just wish more local restaurants would let you order kids meals or charge you for a lesser amount. So few here do. Of course my latest fav is Caesar salads ( don't know where that came from!), so quite often I get them to add a salad to my DH's meal and eat that, and may nibble at the appetizers as well. It just depends on what they are. Luckily I'm at the 2.5 year mark from my surgery so I do get in a few more bites, now.;)
Just let the servers know what's up, and I don't think you'll have any problems.
P.S. what a cutie in that picture, too!;)

It may be expensive, but I think you should make a PS for Crystal Palace. They have Pooh and Pals, and Pooh is the only character my 10 month old enjoyed at the parks. It's a pretty restaurant and the characters are so cuddly and sweet. I think your little one would like it........it'll be a bit of a sacrifice to pay two adult buffets when your wife will have to watch what she eats, but I think you'll love the memory. If you get there, and decide you don't want to go, just cancel the PS.

paigevz, I´m really considering do at least one character meal...
If I could get the meal vouchers it would be a lot easier :( ...
