After years of looking at this site for information, I am finally posting. We booked a vacation for the end of September at POR. The problem is this... We are a family of 5 and this is the only moderate that can accomodate us. We stayed here 1 1/2 years ago and were placed in Alligator Bayou. When we got there, my husband hated the rustic atmosphere and requested a change. We were placed in Parterre Place and thoroughly enjoyed it there. Here's my problem. I just found out that since my youngest child is now 4, we can only stay in Alligator Bayou. YIKES. I haven't told my husband yet. Any suggestions? :sad2:

I don't think there is anything you can do. Youy might call CRO and ask them about it. Other than getting 2 rooms there or at a value. :sunny:

What time of year are you going? I am also a family of 5 ( darn that last kid) and have stayed in Alligator Bayou a couple of times. First time I loved it , it was very quiet and charming, the second time in july was crowded and noisy. Go figure. I am just saying it may be a different experience this go around. If it doesn't work than tell hubby the next trip is at the Beach Club!!!!

isyt - you are too funny. Love that comment about the third child. They really do throw a monkey wrench into the works, don't they? We are going on September 27th. I'm not too savy on the deluxe resorts. I've never stayed at one before and am now thinking about taking the plunge. Any reccommendations for a family of 5? (Without having to sell that 3rd child.) :grouphug:

I know when we were staying at POFQ we saw rooms with two doubles and a "cot" type bed. I assumed it was a trudle. Are you sure you can only stay at POR?? Maybe you should call the actual hotel and ask them?

For a moderate that's the only one, but maybe you could split your stay and go half to POR and the other half to Animal Kingdom Lodge??? I ear only good things about AKL.

We wen't to POR in june and loved it so much that we are going back in January!!!

You can stay in the Mansions sections with 5 but you will have to pay $15 extra per night for a rollaway bed. The CM at POR told me this even though CRO doesn't seem to know anything about this.

I have that darn third child too!

We are choosing not to stay at POR again when we go.
The rooms are too small for all of us. That trundle bed is not too comfortable either.

We are going with a house. I know, it's not the same as staying onsite, but geez...I need some room to walk around.

I think there are other resorts there that take 5 people. (or did you mean the others were booked)?

Yeah especially when you weren't expecting him ( but he is the absolute cutest ) :rotfl: :rotfl:
I haven't come along a deluxe I didn't like. I love BC/YC and BW locations but I miss a foodcourt area for breakfast. I like WL alot also. I stayed in CR tower room and loved the size , quite large. I also like AK but hate the buses ( although I didn't find it a pain) . Its hard to say but if you pushed me I would say BC or WL are my favorites. You'll have to start planning several stays for research ( of course, let me know if you need company). Have a great trip!!

I was just getting ready to post and ask if I would be crazy to stay at POR with my family of five (kids are 6, 11,12). So, would we be miserable??

I know a deluxe would be way better but my dh just decided last night we should take a trip to DW for fall break in five weeks!! So I missed out on free dining and the good hotel rates.

What do you experts think? Should we do POR or just go off-site?

they will actually allow a roll away in POFQ though this is not advertised and is something they do not commonly do. We are staying at POP as we are in the same boat as you 3 kids. We have 2 rooms booked.

Wow, thanks for the info DisneyMomx7! I had no idea and will make that call today! We really loved the POR, just not the AB section and this will really settle things. My husband will be so happy.

goofyshell - I definitely would reccommend POR for your family. Our only problem was that my husband didn't care for the AB section atmosphere. We absolutely loved it in Parterre Place. Too bad you just missed out on the dining deal. Have fun.

lisajl - no the other moderates weren't booked, but POR is the only one that takes 5 in a room. Sorry you found it too small. Enjoy your stay.

magicmouse2 - thank you also for responding. I will get right on this after breakfast.

Thanks so much for all the help. I'll let you know how it turned out.

 Woo Hoo - crisis averted. Thanks to Disneymomx7 and shellybaxter for the helpful information. I called POR today and its true. I don't know why this information is not available. Thanks to this site for being here. $15 a day for a cot is a lot cheaper than upgrading to deluxe. And I really love POR. :cheer2:
