Hello everyone, I really need your help. So we are flying into Orlando and spending 5 nights at a Disney hotel. Then we are taking a cruise sailing out of Fort Lauderdale. My question is how can I get to my Hotel in Fort Lauderdale? I checked with renting a car for just 1 day, but most of the car rental companies want you to return the car back to them in Orlando. Now that doesnt make sense cause we are not going to pay for a car for 7 nights and have it sit in the parking lot while on our cruise. I am looking for a car service maybe that can pick us up at our orlando hotel and drive us to fort lauderdale. Any suggestions?

Well, you could take a cab, but that would run you around $600 each way - and they would probably charge you for the car to travel back to Orlando, too, so really it would be over $1,000.

I'm not sure exactly what a car service would charge, but it would probably cost more than a week's rental. You could always call one and ask, I guess.

Thank you for your reply, this would be a one way trip, after the cruise we would fly out of fl lauderdale airport. I called mears and can rent a towncar for about 450.00 for the ride. There should be a less expensive way to get a ride from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale.

There are shuttle services between the two cities, which you can easily find doing a Google search. They seem to run about $30.00.

On a random mid-January date a one day rental, pick up at car care center and drop off at FLL full size vehicle, fees and taxes included is $135 . . . with a code and a little shopping, you might even fare better.

Be careful. These are "station to station" prices. You still need to get from/to your hotel. WDW pickups are extra cost if available.

You might want to visit cruisecritic.com. They have a florida ports of call board with active local experts to provide advice.

What rental car companies have you checked? Most will let you return to a different city, but with a fee. I know Hertz will do this - I have done this with them and there was a fee for returning to a different city, but nothing very significant.

I appreciate all your thoughts, here is what I am finding while reseaching this. Alamo and National are the only car rental companies on Disney Property. We are staying at the Bay Lakes towers so we have to be able to get to the rental company. Checking there rates, just to drive from the Disney hotel to Fort Lauderdale Airport, where we would get the hotel shuttle for Embassey suites in fort lauderdale, it would be over 100.00. I would like a less expensive option, I think over 100.00 for renting a car for only a few hours is very expensive. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.
