I'm really bad at looking at a forecast and deciding what clothes we'll need, and we've never been during October. I know overall it's still hot, but wondering about the evenings - will we need jackets? Any chance we'd actually wear pants?

I doubt you'll need pants. Looks like the lows for the next 10 days or so are in the high 60's and that will probably happen when you're asleep. If you want, maybe wear them on the plane ride, but otherwise, I wouldn't bother. And for jackets, the only ones you might need are rain jackets.

We went around this time and it was like summer, very hot and rainy.
Still, the weather can be variable so you should still look at weather.com right before you go.

If I assume you are from Pennsylvania - it's unlikely you will need anything more than a light jacket for evenings. Typically it is still in the 70s until 10 PM or so. October is great because while it can still be on the warm side, the humidity has usually broken and you no longer get the 80-90% humidity days. This will be our 5th time in the last 11 years going to WDW this week - and the weather has always been somewhere between very good and great. Our only trip we've ever taken with NO rain was this week. Heat is still a possibility though!

We'll see you around there.

We've never needed pants or a jacket in October. It is usually warm enough to swim in the evening too. More than once DD has gone to the pool at 8:30 or 9:00 pm when we got back from a park.

Alright, thanks all. We usually go in Jan/Feb when we need a little bit of everything. Having a hard time leaving the layers out of the suitcase this time!

Hey fellow Nittany Lion ;)

We'll be there the same time as you and went last year around this time. There was one morning at rope drop that we both put on a light over shirt (mine was like a work-out material one from Old Navy and DD had a light Northface Fleece). I think we had taken them off by like 9 a.m. We wore shorts/t-shirts the entire trip. I didn't even remember needing the light jacket at all until I looked back at a few photos and realized I had it on one day. We even went swimming as early as 9 a.m. and as late as 8-9 p.m. I've been watching the weather and it looks like it's going to be beautiful weather there. Mid-80's during the day and high 60's at night. We usually just plan to wear our light long-sleeve jacket/sweatshirt/fleece on the plane and then we don't even have to pack it!

EDITED TO ADD: Sometimes I like having a light long sleeve shirt in our park bag anyway because of the air conditioning in restaurants, which to me can get pretty chilly!

i am planning on bring one light hoodie for everyone.

Been twice in October - and both times I've needed a long sleeve shirt/light jacket on an evening or two when I was out late - or in a restaurant for dinner. Didn't NEED pants - but I did wear capris a couple times in the evening. So - for the folks who TEND to get cold in your group - I would suggest bringing a layering lightweight long sleeve shirt or jacket (one will probably do it!). Those warm blooded folks (like my significant other) who rarely get cold probably won't need anything.

We go every October. Most evenings I want pants or a light hoodie. Below 70 is pants weather for me.
(Yes, I know I live in the wrong part of the country despising cold and snow like I do.)

Let's put it this way - we will be there 15th to 23rd and I am not packing a jacket, only a hoodie for the ride to the airport which I will likely shove in the suitcase when we get to the airport and never touch again. The only reason I am packing long pants is for the flight back in case it is 40 degrees (here) when we return.

Edit: I should say if the cold bothers you - you will probably more want a jacket for some of the rides/restaurants - as they keep the indoor AC pretty cold. (I always think of Crystal Palace as they seem to keep that place about 65 degrees in the summer.)

It's 85 in the day and 68+ at night that week in the 10 day forecast...

Now things are relative, I live here and I've been right on the edge of calling it chilly the last couple nights it's been doing these temps. If your coming from somewhere already colder you'll probably complain it's too hot..

Haw, I agree- Im an hour north of Tampa and its been "chilly" at night and morning. Love it!!

Yea, from Ohio, going a day earlier each side.. and not packing anything except a zip up hoodie just in case any evenings are 'cool' or when we get home. But even return looks ok..
