Help with my essays.

I have to write 3 essays, and I'm not too sure what to do. I know the CB has such a diverse population that I'm sure to get some great answers! Thanks!

1)You will be an invisable observer at a historical event. You can't change the outcome of the event. However, you can take whatever knowledge you get and bring it back to present day. What event would you pick and what knowledge would you bring back?

2)Would you get genetic testing to find a disease, Why or Why Not?

3)If you could have a 1 on 1 with the new president, what in your opinion needs to be changed the most and why? (Please Don't say the Economy)

Well, these are only MY answers--which is not what your professor is after, but maybe it will help get your mind thinking. . .
1. My first impulse is wanting to know who actually shot JFK. But, I really wouldn't want to witness a murder, so I might have to rethink that one It could also be exciting to find out how the Egyptian pyramids actaully were built.

2. It would depend. If it were a treatable disease where catching it early would be crucial and there was any reason to think I was at risk of having it (family history, lifestyle, etc.) then yes. If it were not treatable then no. I don't need to borrow worry from the future, I am anxious enough as is.

3. Hmmm, well my answer is more philosophical than concrete (yep, that's me--wishy washy). There needs to be a funadmental shift in attitude away from the current entitlement trend (which both individuals and corporations have). Programs and policies need to help where help is truly NEEDED but require that people and businesses help themselves as much as possible (and not bail people or businesses out from troubles of their own making beyond prodividing very basic food/shelter to people in those circumstances). Frivilous lawsuits, parents expecting their children to be catered to right and left at school, etc. etc. are all part of this and all costing us a small fourtune in actual $$ and wasted time and bad feeligns, etc. I think of JFKs famous soundbite (I have no idea why JFK is so on my mind ) "Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country." It will be very tricky to do this and stop abuses of the system while not letting legitimate cases fall through the cracks, but it needs to be done and the prevailing societal attitide is the biggest hindrance in my mind.
I hope I stated this last one well enough. I think many, many people are currently stuck in terrible situations because of the failing economoy and not of their own making. I do not mean to blame everyone who has fallen on hard times currently.
