I know, crazy, right? But DH is having some gall bladder issues, and is eating very low fat, no added butter, fats, etc. How do we handle this in Disney? I'm looking for any suggestions! As long as he stays super low fat he feels great.

We are NOT doing the DDP, we are going out of pocket. We have some Character breakfasts booked, and I'm not worried about those b/c there'll be fresh fruit, and I would think he could get egg beaters?? And he'll eat dry toast with jelly or something. It's the rest of the eating I'm concerned about. Counter services and stuff. Help!

Honestly.....GOOD LUCK!

I eat super healthy and always get sick when we go to Disney, we no longer stay on-site because of that issue. We get a condo about 5 mins out of Disney so that I can eat better. But I do still do character meals for my daughter and we do grab something while at the park all day.

I know the resorts at their CS have yogurt and granola (my issue with that is it does taste like a higher fat yogurt, while at home I eat fat free).

If you are at MK you can go over to POLY, they have a great Multigrain Turkey Sandwich at their CS restaurant. At POLY Kona Cafe also has a pretty good lunch and dinner menu with healthier items.

CRT has the option of having yogurt, granola and berries as your plate at breakfast.

CP had quinoa at breakfast the last time I was there and I was SHOCKED! They also have fresh fruit and whole wheat toast.

Cosmic Rays has a grilled chicken sandwich (real chicken), they also have veggie wraps and burger....the wrap was pretty good.

Coral Reef at Epcot has a pretty good menu....grilled fish.

Also at Epcot Sunshien Seasons CS has some veggie choices.

The CS are the harder ones to find something good to eat.

Good luck, I feel your pain. I am so shocked in what people eat now a days (oh boy how that doesn't get me flamed:rolleyes:

It is definitely going to be a challenge, but not impossible. You just have to do a lot of pre-planning. I would check out all the menus of CS and TS restaurants you are thinking of visiting. You can definitely get chicken, fish, and fresh deli sandwiches at different eateries. You just will probably have to pay more for it. It's unfortunate how expensive it is to eat healthy!!

Be sure to contact WDW special diet services a month or so before your trip. If you let them know where you'll be eating, you can make arrangements to have foods and ingredients available that will satisfy your needs.

I have had a number of dishes prepared for me that were not on the menu, after making arrangements in advance. Chefs will also change the preparation of dishes that *are* on the menu to reduce their fat content.

You can see most of the restaurant menus here.

It really isn't that hard to eat low fat at Disney as long as you do a little pre-planning. Boma and Tusker House will have a lot of options and Sunshine Seasons is probably the best as far as CS goes.

Disney is really good about special diets and will substitute things like sides (grilled vegetables instead of fries for example) or prepare a dish without butter. Disney has been adding healthier options to their menus for about 2 or 3 years now and most CS places have a salad or grilled chicken option.

Check the menus at the link above and you will find most restaurants will have options.

If you're eating at TS, tell your server about the restrictive diet. The chef or sous-chef will come out and discuss options with you. This always really impressed me - there's no issue of a server "forgetting" to let the kitchen know, or about misunderstandings.
