I want to imitate a countdown calendar posted on another board, but need some help coming up little known or obscure facts about Disney World/Walt. Anyone have any they would like to share?

- The Liberty Bell in Liberty Square is a replica of the real Liberty Bell. Each state received one of the 50 replicas in 1976. Since PA had the real one they gave their replica to Walt Disney World which now sits in Liberty Square.

- The first DVC booth inside a theme park sits inside Disney's Hollywood Studios on Sunset Blvd.

Fort Wilderness used to have its own Railroad. It has since been removed but some of the tracks and trestles remain.

The Walt Disney Corp., acting under Reedy Creek Improvement District, can build a Nuclear Power Plant and an Airport (that could be the same size as MCO) at the WDW Resort.

In the current zoning for WDW, there are still right-of-ways for additional monorail tracks. Some of these ROW's include a path through Saratoga Springs and on to Downtown Disney.

There are two countries which have a flag flying in the Magic Kingdom.

The USA and Switzerland...which flies over the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse

There are only 3 "Misters" at Disneyworld/Land: Mr. Lincoln, Mr. Toad, and Mr. Smee.

All others are to be addressed by their first name.

The Sassagoula River (which connects Port Orleans to Downtown Disney) is the Native American word for Mississippi River.

John Lennon signed the paperwork that officially broke up the Beatles at the Polynesian Resort on December 29, 1974.

Wow. I never heard this one!

I do know that also in 1974, Richard Nixon gave his "I am not a crook." speech at The Contemporary though.

Expedition Everest is the tallest mountain at WDW, at 199 1/2 feet tall.

FWIW - It is not State law that says that a structure must have lights at 200ft.

The FAA regulates "Prominent Buildings" that are either 200ft and above or within the glide slope of an airport. The FAA dictates the lighting requirements for those structures including Towers, Bridges, and Buildings. The Building codes for WDW are regulated by Reedy Creek Improvement District and use the EPCOT building codes. :thumbsup2

I have filled out my share of NOTAMs for Tower lights and structure lights going out.

Here are a few more...

The MK has the Astro Orbiter, but Disneyland in California has the Astro Orbitor. (Same ride, different spelling. Go figure.)

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland features six trains: I.B. Hearty, I.M. Brave, I.M. Fearless, U.B. Bold, U.R. Daring and U.R. Courageous.

Jack Nicklaus was the first champion at the Walt Disney World Open Invitational, which made its debut in 1971.

At All Star Music, the musical notes on the front desk are from 'When You Wish Upon a Star'.

A wave machine was built under the Seven Seas Lagoon, but the waves caused erosion of the beach, so it was shut down.

The Sassagoula River (which connects Port Orleans to Downtown Disney) is the Native American word for Mississippi River.

Which Native American language? The Mississippi River is named after the Ojibwe word "misi-ziibi" meaning Great River.

I learned this on a Keys to the Kingdom tour:

The "thatch" on the Tiki Room pagoda is actually metal.

The Luau at The Poly, now "Spirit of Aloha" was originally held outside on the beach.

The "cars" that appear to be driving through London from your overhead view in Peter Pan's Flight are actually just dots of glow in the dark paint on moving bicycle chains.

On Splash Mountain, the only character from "Song of the South" that doesn't appear is Uncle Remus.

The spitting camels on Magic Carpets of Aladdin were originally a part of a parade float in DHS.
