We will be traveling to Montreal next July (thank you for all the great responses on a previous thread) and decided to add Quebec City to our plans for a few days. Since we will be driving, we are looking at a good place to overnight. We have already visited Kingston, and would like to try another location. We will be traveling from Pittsburgh PA. Is Brockville worth considering? We’d like a little downtown area that we could explore by foot and grab something to eat.

Any advice?

Thank you all for your kindness.

I’ve only been there once and it was in a rainstorm and our rental car for work had a flat tire. So my memories of it wasn’t the best. The service station we were at was nice…

It’s right near 1000 islands area abd has lots of history. They have their own tourism webpage as well.

Brockville is a small town right on the 401. We have driven through it many times, there are lots of fast food places my son enjoys :) We have also been there to go to the Aquatarium, a museum about the 1000 Islands geared more for kids, and done a 1000 Island boat tour which was really nice, it was a shorter one, a couple hours I believe. The tour leaves from the harbour area and that area is very nice, right on the river. The town is smaller than Kingston so less to do I would imagine. But I am sure you could find things to do, and some nice places to eat (that aren't the fast food my son enjoys lol)

I know you've been to Kingston but maybe consider a 2nd visit. Some years ago, I did the Kingston Ghost Walk with family. Excellent. Night time tour so would need to stay over in the city. Their Fort Henry ghost tour also has great reviews but a little too scary for the kids in our group. So much to do in the Limestone City that you can't go wrong.

Staying any decent motel between Trenton and Brockville (including Kingston) will be good. Attractions in the area you may be interested in are, Kingston Penitentiary, Fort Henry, Saunders Power Dam, 1000 islands in general, and a little further East, Upper Canada Village. Have a good trip!

IMO, I would stop at Gananoque, ON. If you are crossing at the Thousand Islands Bridge it is a short back track on the Thousand Islands Parkway (maybe 10 minutes from Hill Island). Lots of hotels and Inns, a very picturesque downtown with many small stores to poke around in and some several good restaurants. It is more touristy than Brockville and has a great vibe.
