Help with Gainesville, FL

Hi! Anyone live in Gainesville. We are planning to leave for WDW Monday morning from Laurel, MS to try and miss the hurricane. Is Gainesville in the clear for a stopping point to stay the night?? Please let me know ASAP

You should be fine--it is in North Central Florida. Well in from the coast--at worst, any shift from the hurricane will just produce rain in Gainesville--but that is so not in the forecast. I wold be more concerned about your travel plans leaving mississippi and monitor that as it could be a rough ride for you on Monday morning.

Gainesville is going to be ok, maybe some rain but it's pretty much centered in the state. I use to live there, if you need any advice on hotels, etc let me know.

My parents lived in Gainesville from 1975-1992. I can never remember much problem with hurricanes, but, it depends on where the hurricane is hitting. I remember with David we just got overcast skies for the entire week we visited, no rain, no wind. Actually, it was quite alot like the residual we got here in Indiana from the hurricane earlier this summer.

We made it to Gainesville fine last night and are now staying is Kissimmee. Going to change hotels AGAIN tommorrow. ASMo here we come. Went to DTD tonight, very pretty place. We have been trying to get in touch with family all afternoon in Laurel, MS. The weather got really bad & blew off our metal roof and we cannot get in touch with anyone. Very scary!!!
