I posted on the Restaurants page but didn't quite get the response I was looking for. Maybe you guys can help. We are choosing our ADRs and our 6yr old is VERY fussy. Can you recommend your top 3 Breakfasts and Dinners?

Thanks so much! :thumbsup2

hi! I would DEFINATLY go for buffets...i have 2 fussy children and i am also fussy and vegetarian! And have a baby...we struggle to eat out in sit down places, buffets are great and my researh indicates Animal Kingdom have one that sounds smplest and plainest with most edible things for us...you may too. The breakfasts are nice and simple...Probably not the response you are looking for but it is the best i can offer! I will be looking back at the other replies though as it would be helpful for me!!
10 weeks to go!!

I would recommend looking at either buffets or order-off-menu places, since there are typically a lot of different kinds of food there. Avoid "family style" meals since there is a set kind of food and your kids might not like what is offered (although a lot of places will still let you order off a kids' menu - for example, if they don't like the offering at 'Ohana, they can order off the kids menu from Kona next door). Also avoid real "ethnic" kinds of places if your child may not like Chinese, Mexican, Morrocan, German, Irish, etc. But again, most of these places have kids' menus with pretty "American" food on it.

Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom is good (although your 6-year-old may not be into Pooh and friends anymore). That could be breakfast, lunch or dinner. Also I believe Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary has both breakfast and dinner buffets. Liberty Tree Tavern, although it's family-style, has pretty traditional "American" food.

For "menu" ordering your kids would probably like 50's Prime Time and Sci-Fi Drive-In at MGM, or Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom or DTD.

Good luck!

DS is now 11 and still fussy! Our favorite buffet is Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. Huge assortment of everything at every meal so even he finds something he likes there. He also liked the buffet at Hollywood & Vine at MGM. Rainforest Cafe in AK or DD is pretty good but kind of $$$$ I think. We don't really have one near us at home so we go and pay for the atmosphere. Many of the places are very good at accomodating a child with something they will eat. My son liked the Hoop dee doo show but wasnt crazy about the food. The waitress brought him a kids plate instead and he had his choice of all the typical kids items like hot dog, nuggets, mac&cheese, etc. She even offered to make him a peanut butter sandwich!

Breakfasts:
Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge Resort - they have an all you care to eat breakfast, with Lincoln Log table at the front of the restaurant, that's a hint of what fun she'll have. They ring the dinner bell, lots of hooting and hollering, they get the kids up and give them horses on sticks to ride around the restaurant, you just can't be bored there!
(They do the same fun stuff for lunch or dinner too)

Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary - Definitely more lively and fun than some of the other character breakfasts I've been to. My kids love this one.

Dinners:
Rainforest Cafe - great jungle atmosphere and wait until the animals come to life, cute!

Ohanas, Crystal Palace, the Castle-Cinderella's Royal Table, (Is she in to Princesses?) There's the Princess dinner in Norway at Epcot, really, ANY of the character meals are appropriate.
And as far as the food goes, Disney always has kid food, mac n cheese, chicken nuggets, pizza and will take special requests for those picky little ones (like my son who wants onions on everything!).

By fussy do you mean finicky or picky?

We just came back from a week at WDW and my DS6 is also a picky eater. We ate at BOMA (buffet) at AKL and they had chicken strips and mac-n-cheese. We ate at Ohana at Polynesian and they had hot dogs and mac-n-cheese (not on the menu but you can ask for them if the waiter doesn't mention them). We ate at Chef Mickey's (buffet) and they had cheese pizza, which DS6 had 7 pieces!!! They also had mac-n-cheese, peas, and chicken nuggets. If your DS eats chicken nuggets/strips, he should be OK everywhere. At CRT, no mac-n-cheese, but they did have chicken strips. There is a McDonald's at Downtown Disney -- we ate there a few times and it was nice eating something familiar. At Sci-Fi, the kids had mac-n-cheese and at AK Breafastosaurus it was a buffet with the usual breakfast things (Krispy Kremes, bagels, scrambled eggs, cold cereal, hot cakes, etc).

I've got one of those too. Here's where we've made our ADRs for this trip, all dinners (we don't do big breakfasts):

Chef Mickey's
Crystal Palace
Mama Melrose
Boma
Princess Storybook (for my 4 year old)
'Ohana
Kona
Whispering Canyon

They're all kind friendly and have something that my picky one will tolerate. I hope! ;)

I knew I could count on you for help! :goodvibes

Many of your suggestions are also ones we have chosen, proof that great minds continue to think alike. I hadn't thought of Mama Melrose's but we'll consider it now for certain.

Thanks again! :teeth:

We went to CRT early one morning (earlier than my 6 yo likes to get up, especially since we had an exhausting travel day the day before). I hadn't thought to tell the kids that the meal was pre-plated, everybody gets the same, because I knew that they both liked french toast sticks. DD6 got SO ticked when they brought her meal, she yelled, "I didn't even get to see the menu yet!" She refused to touch anything on her plate because it "wasn't what she was in the mood for." I was trying to calm her down so she wouldn't cause a scene, and I told her we'd find her something else to eat when the rest of us had finished eating. Our wonderful waiter noticed there was a problem. He came over and said to her, "Do you not like your breakfast, my lady?" She just sat there and pouted. Then he said, "Is there something else you would like to eat, my lady?", and she said, "Fruit Loops", rather rudely. He said, "Of course, my lady, right away." In less than 2 minutes, he was back with a bowl of fruit loops! I apologized profoundly for her behavior of course, she ate all her fruit loops (that was a very expensive bowl of cereal!) and she was in a good mood the rest of the day. So the moral of the story is, regardless of what restaurant your in, never be afraid to ask about a substitute that may not be on the menu. Disney is prepared for pickey eaters!
