My daughter is leaving on her 8th grade trip in the morning. They are spending Friday at Islands of Adventure. We go to WDW at least once a year, but have never been to US.

What must she do? What can be skipped? Best counter service restaurants? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Most of the 8th grade trips we saw there last week were all touring with chaperones and weren't running around on their own. I would make sure she brings a change of clothes for the water rides. My kids love Hulk, Spiderman, Popeye (she'll get drenched), Dudley Do Right (she'll get wet), Jurassic Park (depending on where she sits she may get wet), and Dueling Dragons. They like the Sinbad Show and Posiden's Fury. They skip everything in Storm Accelator (think teacups), all of the rides in Suess' Landing (I ride them) and Pretedon Flyers, as well as Camp Jurassic Park.

We ate in City Walk so I can't help with recent counter service meals. When we were there in 2007 we ate in Jurassic Park and had counter service there (chicken fingers, burgers, etc.) and it was fine.

I will make sure she doesn't wear a white shirt with all of the "wet" rides!

I'm sure she'll have a great time at IOA. I wouldn't advise skipping anything...everything is great but it depends on her taste in rides. In my opinion...the best CS restaurant at IOA is Thunder Falls Terrace in the Jurassic Park section. I always get the chicken wrap which is excellent! If she's in the mood for a burger, tell her The Burger Digs is very good and for a lot of choices in one place, tell her to go to Comic Strip Cafe...they have all kinds of food there.

For all of the above mentioned "wet" rides, is there a place to put your bags so they stay dry, or does she need to rent a locker so her camera, phone, etc. won't be ruined?

There are lockers outside of Popeye ($3 for the first hour) and free ones (for the first hour or two) outside of Jurassic Park. I think they have them at Dudley Do Right too. We hit Popeye first and put our stuff in the locker and then went to Dudley Do Right and then went back and got our stuff out of the locker we rented. There is a middle compartment on Popeye that has a plastic cover, but we found the locker was easier for us.

The only free lockers are at Hulk and Dueling Dragons. Have her put her camera, cellphone, etc. in a plastic "baggie" or ask for a merchandise bag at one of the stores. Even in the middle portion on Popeye's, your stuff can still get a little wet.
