I've never been to the Tamarack Beach Resort in Carlsbad or the Worldmark in Oceanside, so I can't really comment on them, except to say that Tamarack is right next to Carlsbad State Beach, which is very nice. I've been to the Four Seasons Aviara twice: once for dinner (their sunday seafood buffet is great) and for tea (also very nice). I'm not able to give you info on the actual hotel experience there. though. The grounds are very beautiful. It's about 3-4 miles away from the ocean, but you can see it from some spots from the resort. My initial impression is that Aviara would be just as fine as the others. If I had to choose between Carlsbad and Oceanside, I'd probably choose Carlsbad because it's closer to all the action (Legoland, Carlsbad Company Stores, San Diego).
I noticed that your resort choices are in northern San Diego County. Will you be limiting your stay to the North County, or do you also have plans to visit San Diego (the city) itself? Your resort choices are about 30-40 minutes away via Interstate 5, with NO traffic. The main freeway (Interstate 5) along the coast gets choked up during the morning and afternoon rush hour traffic and on the weekends, it can get busy as well. Just something to keep in mind.
