Hi guys,
Im looking for someone who can help with Disney transport. I thought I had it all worked out then the kind people in chat pointed out buses from DTD dont take you to the parks !!

So heres what we are doing and then can someone in the know tell me the best/ quickest way to acheive it please ?

staying at SSR , have an adr at rainforest cafe at 1.30 pm and the we are off to MVMCP and our plan is to be there for 4 pm.

Any advice ???
Thanks x

You will have to go via a resort. Well you know this, hence the question! :)

A few options:

Take the first resort bus that pulls up and connect from that resort to MK
Take a boat back to SSR or to POFQ/POR and get the MK bus from there
Wait for the GF, Contemporary or Poly bus and use the monorail or walk if going to the Contemporary.

The Poly/Grand Floridian/Comtemporary bus would be your best bet!
I can safely say that I'm off Disney buses for life after one and only use of one last week. Took us 40 mins to get to our stop at SSR after getting on the bus at DTD Marketplace!!
Should have listened to Tracy (scojos) after her 1hour 40minutes journey to OKW from DTD :lmao:

OMG how long !!:scared1:

I am right in thinking though that the bus will drop us right outside MK sow e dont need to go on ferry or monorail am I correct ??

OKW and SSR are amongst a few of the resorts that get the most negative feedback for irregular bus services. My first choice would be one of the monorail resorts. Even the values, like POP, have a pretty good service compared to some others. Obviously you want to keep in mind a few resorts to avoid for connections based on distance from MK. So the All Stars and AKL are going to take you way out of your way and are the furthest resorts from MK so I would avoid those if possible for the sake of saving travelling time.

Conversely if I stayed onsite again it'd only be at SSR or OKW exactly for their location :)

Oh I fully understand that when you have a car. It makes absolute sense for so many reasons to stay at one of these resorts. I made my statement based on the fact that we rely solely on Disney transportation - purely on that basis. :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 gotcha!
Speaking of cars, I miss my Herbie already :lmao:

I did some buses running from Epcot to Animal Kindom & Animal Kingdom lodge, first time ever seem park to park. Might be worth checking with WDW if this service runs from DTD as well?

Just got back from OKW and generally thought the buses were ok but we were not clock watching. Once on a bus I would suggest we didn't have a journey more than 25 mins allowing for the 10 mins it takes to get around the 5 stops at OKW.

There are buses from park to park, but not from DTD to the parks. They did have them quite some time back and stopped it because with free parking at DTD (or so the rumour goes) people were coming in from offsite, parking at DTD and using the buses to the parks which put a strain on the DTD parking and on the buses.

Does anyone know what happened with Tracy that it took so long to SSR with the bus? Was it the wait time for the bus or what happened? I have never had an experience like that.

But back to the OP's question, I would go with Monorail resort, failing which, POP for a transfer.

Is the RFC you are going to the one at DTD? If so wouldn't it be quicker just to do the 10 minute walk back to SSR once you have eaten, and get the direct bus from there to MK? That's what I would do (I haven't got children to drag along on the walk though, so apologies if you have and I've missed it!!)

Our longest trip was dtd to pofq on bus waited forever and the driver did all of riverside before heading back to dtd! We stopped him and he did a turn round in okw then apologised to the bus passengers for his mistake. After that I would suggest that any ssr, okw or por/pofq visitors use the boats quicker, less crammed and much more pleasant

Most of it was a long wait, can't remember how long it took her, but was to OKW rather than SSR, if only I'd thought ahead and took her, Bruno and the kids in Herbie as we drove, even two trips there and back to fit everyone in would have took less than ten minutes!!

Although by akk accounts, like us, shes more used to using the car so the messing around on buses was just as annoying as our experience ;)

I think that's what makes the difference: what you are used to. I don't drive anymore so I am used to using the buses, etc at Disney. Rarely use public transport at home, but I guess it's the way we know Disney. Still, I would have been peeved at waiting THAT long! I think our max has been around 20 minutes and waiting that length of time has often been down to us deciding to wait for the next bus as the one there was really packed.

We found buses to the parks fine last trip ( and we are not bus users at home).

We stayed at all star movies and i'd read horror stories. Longest wait at resort was probably 20 mins.

Most of the time it was a dedicated bus, ocassionally shared with other all star resorts.

After MVMCP I waited about an hour to get on a bus it was so busy.

BUT a car was invaluable to get to reservations at resorts and generally alot quicker than the bus.

We are having a car the whole trip this time.

Like tiggs I rely on the disney transportation and the only issue I had was the bus from DTD back to OKW. On 2 occassions I remember sitting there at bustop one at DTD like a lemon waiting whilst other resort buses came in droves:lmao:One time it was raining and DD was moaning which doesnt help the already annoying situation. After 40 mins and no bus we got the boat back. I could have probaly caught 3 boats in the time I waited BUT saying that I never had any problem with the plentiful of buses coming into the resort for the parks. The best resort I have personally stayed at for buses was Pop. I think there are a lot of bus stops at the bigger resorts and to be honest perhaps they should put fewer in. I mean we walk miles around the parks and to me a 5-10 min walk back to my room is no biggie but with small kids and the elderly it may well be.I think I remember CBR had an in resort bus so you could hop on and go to the stop by HHH. Mind you a bit boring for the driver ,going around in a circle all day.:rotfl2:
Anyway sorry for going off course but I would go DTD,to poly or contem .
Staying at SSR for the first time so have prepared myself for a bus crisis:scared1: It may well be absolutley fine but I dont let it effect my holiday. Its part of the holiday.:thumbsup2
