Help with Disney Mix Max

I have read that a few parents here have this for their kids and wondering if anyone can help. How did you go about putting movies onto it? The required format is not one I am familiar with. Also- have you had any problems with it freezing, not playing songs and when you turn it on does yours really take 5 minutes to actually turn on? Thanks!

We love the mix maxes. It took a few googles to get the video install figured out...we ended up using MagicDVDripper...we had to buy this software (I think there is a free trial) to convert the DVD to the right file and then the right size but it has been so worth it and has made the whole process really easy. Note, it does take a bit of time to convert the movies and then load them and it is handy to have some 1 or 2 gb memory cards as well. Ours take about 2-3 seconds to turn on and don't freeze...make sure the unit is fully charged. Hope this helps....do some research via google so this doesn't make you crazy!!!

My husband has really got these down pat now...but it did take a bit of trial and error and googling and did almost make us crazy! Another thought for the freezing thing... leave your hand on the on button as it turns on. If it is still giving you a hardtime, try setting the reset button w/a pin (on the bottom, next to the usb portal).

what format does the Mix Max use? we have one but I have no clue as to how to convert movies and would love to.

Honestly, I just know that he uses DVD ripper software to convert the DVDs and make the size of the file fit the screen. Here is the link of the software we bought (think there is a free trial for you to try):

I know this is cynical, but I think it is made so difficult intentionally so you just end up buying the Disney memory cards w/pre-loaded movies and songs.

I'm trying "pocket to pc" for movies...I think I'll buy it ($25) once I buy some cards. We did get HSM and POTC with our players in a bundled pack from Costco.

You have to save the video files onto a memory/sd card and do it that way. I ripped the files and coverted them on my pc and then stored them onto 2gb sd cards and watch the movies off of that......Having said that I have gotten my dd a 16gb ipod nano and it is much better than the mix max. Converting the movies is alot faster and easier and it is just an overall better product.
