Going to WDW this July. Got a Free Dining PIN! We have been several times but never on the DP. Since we decided to upgrade to the DXDP- I am looking for suggestions for restaurants that would be a both a good "bang for our buck" and appealing to our 14 year old son who is a big eater but not very adventurous. We will be staying at WL and do have a car. Thanks in advance.

The Hoop Dee Doo Revue! It will cost you 2 credits, but totally worth it. It is a dinner show, which while corny is hilarious. Your, or any other, 14 year old may turn their nose up at the entertainment, but the food..my mouth is watering as I type. All you can eat bbq ribs, fried chicken, mashed taters, bbq beans and salad. Ma's strawberry shortcake is for dessert. For adults, beer, wine and sangria are included in the beverage choices and are refillable. This is located at Ft. Wilderness campground, so just a quick boat trip from WL. I LOVE this place. We go every trip.

I have an 11 year old that is very picky and not an adventurous eater also. We went to Citricos (as 2 TS credits), and she enjoyed it very much. She had a chicken and pasta dish, and ate it all. She has even asked if we can go back some day.

With her being so picky and now considered an adult on the dining plans, we've stuck to more CS places, and don't usually get the dining plan any more. She actually enjoyed the CS place in Morocco at Epcot. Again she had chicken, and pronounced it good. As I recall it wasn't overly spicy. She does like a little heat..not much, but a little she can handle The portions were fairly large as I recall, but the side dishes may not appeal to your son. Couscous and hummus as I recall. My DD tried them, and didn't care for either.

Another CS place we like to go is Cosmic Ray's in MK. There is a good variety of food which is nice. You can get 1/2 a rotisserie chicken there with a couple of sides. That is A LOT of food. If I can talk her in to it, we will share it. She likes to get either chicken tenders or the 1/2 slab of ribs.

If we do TS we tend to stick to characater meals for breakfast. The ones we've done are all you can eat buffets. My DD loves breakfast foods, so I feel like I am getting my money's worth at those.

Especially since you are staying at WL, consider a nice dinner at Artist Point. The menu is upscale as befits a Signature but the cuisine is American, which should appeal to the less-adventurous. Yachtsman is another Sigature, a steakhouse that you all might like.

Have you eaten at the Biergarten at Epcot/Germany? Also lots of good meat-and-potatoes choices for a hungry boy. Breakfast buffets are also a good choice; he will just have to put up with some characters there since I think the only non-character buffet breakfast is Boma.

My DS13 is not a real adventerous eater either. We always do the DDP and although he tends to order the same things when we return to restaurants, these are some of his favorites:

Epcot- Tutto Italia and Via Napoli
DHS- 50's Prime Time (mainly for PB&J milkshake!)
Contemporary- Chef Mickeys- he could care less about the characters but does like their breakfast buffet.
Poly- Ohana dinner
DTD- WGP Express, Raglan Road, & Planet hollywood.

he has 2 younger sisters and we went to CRT for Christmas morning last year, we are starting to plan our next trip and has said he wants to go back there, again for the food, guess he liked the breakfast here too. OR, he really likes being forced into those pictures by the beautiful princesses!:lmao:

Im sure since you dont have younger ones, he wont want to go to character dinners, and Im sure there are many other great places out there we havent tried yet. Have a great trip! I hope to go again this summer too, just have to get good enough of a deal to convince DH to go again.

We rec'd the FD pin & also upgraded to the Deluxe.. Both my boys are good eaters but just like yours not very adventurous.. I'm about 1/2 way done with my ADR's--we've always done the DDP but never the Deluxe :) I'm so excited to try some different places....

Good luck with your choices :) :thumbsup2 :yay:

Thanks for the suggestions so far. We went the the HDDR last summer with the whole family - we have 2 older daughters (1 married and 1 in college)- we had a ball. Just looking for something different- might go back though because we had so much fun. So far I have penciled in LeCellier (L), Cape May(D), Boma (D) and Artist Point (D) We will be staying for 5 nights. Maybe a dinner where we could watch the fireworks? We will most likely go back the 50's Prime Time- it's DS's favorite. Probably do one or two breakfast buffets- characters are ok my son and I are kids at heart. Keep those suggestions coming.
