Help with Delta when having to cancel ticket

My family and I had planned a little getaway for President's week. We bought our tickets for $350 each but then got a puppy for Christmas. I volunteered not to make the trip and stay home with the puppy. I cancelled my ticket and was told i have up until October to use it but would loose $75 of the credit when i rebooked. Does Delta ever credit back your credit card or atleast let you use the credit when purchasing other people's tickets? I would use some of the credit to buy a one way ticket for april but still would have money left over unless i could use it to buy my sister's too. Help!!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but...

Delta will not refund your ticket. (Non refundable means just that)


I have never heard of anyone being able to use the credit to buy anyone else a ticket.

I have used Delta credits to buy multiple tickets on ONE itinerary. I had an international flight cancelled and they could not re-book me in Business Elite. The difference in going back to a coach fare was just over $1100. I used that credit against four family tickets on one itinerary for a trip last month.

I'm confused. Are you only flying one way in April, and staying at your destination? Because if you're flying round-trip, you can (okay, should be able to) apply the remaining $275 credit to your entire flight itinerary. If you still have credit left over, you can apply it toward yet another ticket before October.
See Delta.com, but I'm pretty sure your credits are non-transferable.

Well, we are going to Atlantis and the flights offered by Delta are not the greatest..going down a late morning fllight and coming home is like a noon time flight. I would take delta going down but would like to fly JetBlue coming back to gain some beach time. So right now i could get a one way ticket for like $140 but have $300 something worth of credits...so i was wondering if i could buy my sister's ticket too with the credit
