Hi everybody,

I came across this forum, because we try to decide if we should by points or not. While reading a lot of questions were answered and the forum was a great help, but I have a few questions left.

We live in Germany and have been to WDW every other year before our kids were born. Now they are 1 and 3 years old and I think it's time to bring them to the world.

We would like to go every 3 years in October and would like to stay at the BWV.
I would need 190 points for a 2 week stay.

So I think I need to look for a resale with 60 - 70 points for BWV with UY October. Is that right?

If I buy in November, I won't get any points this year, but in October 2010. I can bank these for a trip in October 2011, use the 2011 points and borrow the points from 2012. Than I could bank the 2013 points and in 2014 could go to WDW and use these, the 2014 points and borrow points from 2015. Is that correct? I know, it's a lot in advance.

Could I bank the points longer than a year?

Please help me, I try to convince my husband to buy;)

Thank you very much,
Sandra

You'd probably want to purchase an additional 15 - 20% extra points than you've initially anticipated in order to have a safeguard against possibility of adjustment in points charts ( there was just a recent adjustment to points charts beginning with 2010 calendar year so use 2010 chart to determine how many points you'd need to cover number of days you'd want to travel/size villa needed/season(s) you'll most likely travel ).

Travelling every 3rd year you can divide anticipated number of points by 3 because with banking + borrowing + current Use Year's points from the year during when your travel will happen will give you 3 Use Year allotments of points to use for your trip.

If you buy BWV directly through Disney in November 2009 you WILL get OCTOBER 2009 Use Year allotment of points (Oct 2009 UY is from 10/1/2009-9/30/2010) so you will not be waiting until October 2010 Use Year to receive your first allotment of points!

AND BWV bought directly through Disney by 9/30/2009 will get you October 2008 Use Year points and October 2009 Use Year points will come on 10/1/2009 ( so you would be starting off with 2 UY's allotment of points immediately available for your use (because if you wanted to you could borrow 2009 UY allotment of points right now!) AND also 2008 UY allotment of points MS will most likely allow you to bank (even though their banking deadline is May 31 2009) because it's a new purchase & it's possible you can't use them by Sept 30 2009 ).

You may not bank points longer than 1 year so October 2008 UY allotment of points banked into October 2009 UY are then valid for stay from 10/1/2009-9/30/2010. You may only borrow points into preceeding UY so October 2010 UY allotment of points may be borrowed into October 2009 UY and then these borrowed in points would be valid 10/1/2009-9/30/2010.

If you purchase BWV via resale market you will have to read contract details - for example : are there points available from October 2008 UY? and are October 2009 UY points still available? ( some resale contracts are "loaded" with points and other resales are "stripped" with no points coming until 2010 Use Year ). Click banner above for The Timeshare Store to review resale listings; many here and myself included have purchased resales through them - excellent & knowledgeable service.

Best wishes :goodvibes and hope you find a contract to suit your family's needs real soon :thumbsup2

HI and Welcome,

I am assuming that you want to buy points for 2 weeks in a studio (as I checked the point charts and I am not seeing anything else at BWV that is 190ish for two weeks).

If that is your plan, then yes, you want to find a contract around 70 points so that you can bank and borrow to go every 3 years.

Points can only be banked once, and are only good for the year in which they are banked (ie: 2009 UY points can be banked into a 2010 UY but must be used during that 2010 UY).

If you want to travel in October, then an October UY would be good. Since you are thinking of buying in November, and buying through resale, you may or may not get 2009 points with the contract. There are a lot of contracts out there that are "loaded" (ie: banked and current year points) so it is possible that you will find one with lots of points.

And yes, you have it right with how it will work. If you want to travel in October 2011, you can pay for that trip with "banked" 2010 points, 2011 points, and borrowed 2012 points.

Good luck!!!
