Help with current points, use year and banking

We are looking at a resale contract with 160 points. The current available is listed as 183 for 2016 and 160 for 2017 and beyond. Use year is April. How are there 183 available? Does that mean 23 were banked from 2015? How and when would we have to use these by to not lose them? Thanks for your help!

You should ask the broker. Points need to be used during the UY and are forfeited at the end of March 2017.

Up to 160 could be banked from 2015 depending on various factors, although is most likely just the 23. In either case with a use year of April, you'd need to bank 2016 points (however many there might be) before December 1 or use them by March 31 2017. You'd lose the banked 2015 points unless you took a trip before march 31 2017.

As noted, you need to find out what % of those in 2016 are banked but it likely is the 23. You'd need a plan to use or rent those that will expire.

Points need to be available for your stay, not at the time you make the reservation.
