There are only 4 to chose from; hear me out a second......
Carribbean Beach is Gigantic, it's okay, not my favorite, don't hear alot of overwhelming love for this resort.....
Coronado Springs is the Convention Center, always crowded and designed for large events and tournaments and competitions etc.....nah.....
I LOVE PORiverside, but have stayed there twice, would be nice to be somewhere else.....
And POFrench Quarters doesn't seem as nice as POR.....I walked around it.

The next step up is the Deluxe's & WHOAAA !!!!! The price increase is a huge jump.......I rather save that money for more spending money. Don't know if I can justify that big price difference, although I know the Deluxes's are beautiful. And don't want to do Value Resorts.

I will be booking our vacation next month and am having a really tough time choosing where to stay.....
Any feedback, suggestions, ideas......HELP !!!!!!

Well, some "overwhelming" love for CBR...

This is one of my favorite resorts on property. Beautiful, TONS of quiet pools, BIG rooms and it was built before Disney got so cheap so there are things like more quiet pools, standard views aren't all FULL parking lot etc.

Personally I think the Deluxes are RIP OFF!!! I compare Disney's pricing to REAL deluxe and I compare Disney's SERVICE and rooms to REAL deluxe. The only place Disney is an equal... PRICE (and there they often exceed the competetion LOL!) So IMHO Disney Deluxe is overpaying for a basic hotel. Yes, they are pretty but it takes more the "pretty" to be a deluxe hotel!

We love the CSR and it is not always crowded. We have been there six (soon to be seven times) and have never had an issue with crowds. The last two years, my DH and I have had the main pool basically to ourselves with maybe 10 to 15 other people; two days last year we literally were by ourselves in the Quite Pool; we have had the hot tub to ourselves; we have been seated immediately at the Pepper Market for breakfast and lunch. I cannot comment on the other moderates as we have not stayed at them. We have walked around every one of them and eaten at their food courts (and, unfortunately, their table service restaurant) and gotten a feel for them if we should ever decide to try somewhere else. We have no intention of leaving the CSR, but if we did, our order of preference in what other moderate we would choose would be: POFQ, Caribbean and POR.

If you reallywant something different Stay at POFQ andknow you can always use POR food court and pools etc. That way you are in a new room for a new experience but still have the comforts of the known (POR)

:)

I am sure even if they built 10 moderates you would have someone that didn't like the choices.

CBR is a beautiful resort. We didn't care for CSR. It felt bigger than CBR to me. POR is a beautiful resort. I haven't stayed at POFQ yet.

It all comes down to the theming you like best.

cant please every one all the time!
they are having touble filling the rooms they have
I dont think there will be any new resorts any time soon!
look at all the discounts and promotions out there :dance3:

Have you checked out S&D? If you qualify for one of their discounts, their rates can be just a bit above a moderate and significantly less than a deluxe. With the emphasis on can! There are times when there isn't much difference between S&D and WDW deluxe resort rates! *LOL*

The main disadvantage with S&D is lack of DME service and room charging privileges. They do participate in EMH, which helps a lot.

CarolA,
I'm glad you like CBR, but I for one did not. I appreciated all the info Buzz gave on the resort, but I have to agree with "bellenbuzz" that it's a convention center, and way too large and spread out IMO. They could use a momorail in lieu of the busses around that place! First and last time for me at the CBR.
I do agree, a more new moderate is needed that has a little of everything.

I've stayed at both of the Port Orleans resorts and while they are both great my favorite so far is definitely POFQ!!!! Love everything about this resort - from the charming appearance to the small size!:lovestruc

I think you are confusing CBR and CSR. CSR is the convention hotel, not CBR. Buzz gives info on the CSR, not CBR.

Why not try WL or AKL - they are deluxes but they are priced just a bit more than the moderates.

I am about the furthest you can get from a camping, wilderness kinda gal and was leery about staying at the WL...guess what, I fell in the love with the place. Its more of an "arts and crafts" Frank Lloyd Wright kinda place than a camping/wilderness place. Give it a try.

If the size of POR didn't bother you, than maybe the size of CBR won't bother you? We found the resort to be very relaxing and loved the theme.

I also agree about maybe checking out the Swan & Dolphin.

I agree with cindysmom......give WL or AKL a try. We've never stayed at AKL, but we LOVE WL (after our first choice...the Poly :goodvibes). It will be a little more money than the mods, but not as much as it would be to go up to any deluxes on the monorail or in the Epcot area. WL and AKL are the cheapest of the deluxes :).

Stayed at POFQ before we bought in to the Vacation club, and we loved it there.

This is not a valid comparison. You might as well compare the price of a hotel in New York to a similar hotel in Cleveland. Guess what? The cost of the hotel in New York is going to be much, much higher. Why? Because real estate costs are driven by location. Disney deluxe resorts are priced where they are based on their prime locations, not based on the level of service they offer.

If you have never stayed at CBR or CSR, you may want to give one of them a try, especially if you dont want to go deluxe. Having stayed at both CBR and CSR a few times, in my experience, neither resort ever felt large, the theming is amazing, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and we loved the food court at CSR.
Btw, we find CSR to be less crowded when having conventions because those people arent using the buses or amenities. We rarely saw conventioners at all during our trips and found the busing at CSR to be top notch.
We also wont be paying deluxe dollars when going to WDW. I agree it isnt worth it. But dont rule out the other 2 moderates. You dont know til you try! :goodvibes

What exactly would you want in a Moderate Resort that you think is missing?:confused3

I think you are off the mark with your description of Coronado Springs. I have stayed there, and didn't find it crowded. I don't think it designed for tournaments and competitions either. Most of those groups stay at the Value resorts.

We've stayed at three of the four. Haven't stayed at POR yet, but we liked the other three. As my signature states, I really, really need my kingsized bed (that I get in a DVC one bedroom villa), but if I'm staying in a moderate, any of them are really nice. Good places to eat, great pools, fun theming. What's not to like?
