so all you smarties.......

If i book a package now for Dec of 06 ( value season) with passes and dining can the passes or dining go up if the rates go up? in other words are the prices locked in when you book.

i know i can change if a promo comes along but could i maybe pay more than i booked at?

and is the deposit per room or per ressie( ie 3 rooms =$200 0r $600)

Thanks

Prices are locked in when you pay off your vacation. The exception to this is if taxes increase. Usually you lock into a price with your deposit at the time of booking but it can be changed, although it's not usual, until it's paid off. If you are with 46 days with Disney you can cancel and rebook for promotions that come up with a full refund on the orginal vacation. 6-45 day is a % back, under 6 days I don't know.
I HTH

aw what a relief!!!!!thanks!!!

ok then if i pay it off can i get a better promo after i pay it or can i not change anything once it's paid?

if you bought a package, if the price of the better deal is lower than what you already locked in for, there is a change fee involved. The change fee is waived if it's the amount is the same or greater.

So, for instance, you booked POP at $500 for 5 nights - $100/night. Somewhere down the line, a promo comes up for POP at $75/night, and you want it. You can change your package, but you'll pay a change fee. If you decide that with the promo, you want to bump up to POFQ instead at $150/night, then you won't pay the change fee.
You will need to really analyze your numbers to see if the promo is a better deal and if you're willing to fork over the fees.

Same thing if you go from a package to a room only reservation. You might get hit with a fee later on. You really just have to check.

We originally had a package for POP for 9 nights on free dining. DH decides to change it to POP for 7 nights with free dining and 2 nights room only at BCV. Since we upgraded and the total cost was higher than the original cost, we weren't charged the $100 change fee.

thanks i just knew there would be some little"hidden" clauses i wouldn't think about!

If the 2006 rates have been released - and I'd think by now they have been - then any package rate you're quoted will be at the 2006 rates. If any component's price has not been finalized, you need to be told that before you book. I know for sure the MYW Dining will be $37.99 per night per adult and I think $11 per child ages 3 - 9 for 2006; also, the Value Resorts (for example) have gone up $2 per night for a Standard room to $79 per night (all prices plus tax).

These change fees, however, are only imposed if you are 45 days or less prior to your vacation. Packages must be paid for in full 45 days prior to arrival, hence the 45 day marker. You can make any cancellations or changes before that date with no penalties whatsoever.

As stated, if your change increases the price, they will waive the change fee. However, if it is a lateral change, or a drop in price, the current change fee is $60. If you wanted to change due to a special promotion that has come out, and you are within that 45 day marker, you would have to do the math to see if the savings ourweighs the change fee. so if you are paid in full but say 60 days out there is not change penalty right???

ok are there any cons to making a ressie now then for a trip so far away?

You are correct. Even if you paid in full today (hypothetically), you would still have until that 45 day marker to make any changes or cancellations with no penalties.

I see no reason not to book it now. You could even pay it off in installments over time without feeling the hurt of paying it off all at once! :flower:

The price can go up on any unpaid components. Once it's paid for, you are locked in; but simply booking with a deposit will not lock you in.
