Hi all!

I am coming to WDW in April next year and have booked to stay at POP but now I’m not so sure.

We are coming for 3 days before moving offsite. It’ll be myself and our two girls (10yrs and 8yrs) as my husband won’t be joining us for those initial days. I was initially looking for a cheaper stay and booked a preferred pool view room at POP but now having considered our plans for those few days, I wonder if I should stretch the purse strings a bit more and consider a moderate?

Reasons why are that the pools might be a bit better? Perhaps a water slide? Also, I’m planning on a Boma breakfast/pool day on Day 1, then Epcot day 2 (inc dinner). I wonder if logistically a moderate might be better positioned as I will be relying on Disney transport.

Do you recommend an alternative or should I stick with what I’ve got? I’m not sure I could afford a preferred room in a moderate though so it’s either the best of a value resort or the worst of a moderate!

Also, with these refurbs going on, am I best to avoid CBR or CSR or maybe CSR might be quite nice by April?

Decisions decisions.....!

I'm not sure how CSR will look next April, but I really enjoyed our stay there a few years ago and the main pool is one of the coolest on property! The resort does feel spread out, though, so there may be more walking than you're used to. Still, I say go for it!

Unless a water slide is important to you, I would just stay where you are. No matter how you slice it, value or mod, you will have to take a bus (or you could lyft/uber/Minnie Van at extra cost). Going to a mod that's a bit closer to EP might save you minutes if anything. I wouldn't switch just for that.

Don't overthink it. For your situation, I think Pop is fine.

Transportation to Boma is no issue. If you are in a hurry, fastest, best way to go would be via Uber. If you have more time to till, just take a Disney Bus to Animal Kingdom and transfer over. I would like use Uber in the morning so I can get an extra 40 minutes of sleep.

Transportation to Epcot is super-easy. Just walk to the bus stop and hop on the Epcot bus.

As for the rooms, I wouldn't waste my money on a view at any Disney resort unless I wanted to see the castle. You will likely spend, what, 5 minutes looking out the window? It's not worth it.

As for a slide, sure, its nice, but you kids will be perfectly happy with the Pop pool and activities there.

Have a great time!

Thanks everyone! Yes, perhaps I am overthinking it! Those online pictures definitely do their best to tempt you don’t they?! You are right, the kids will be more than happy just jumping in any pool and I imagine they’ll be quite a buzzing atmosphere at POP anyway!

Do the resorts play pool games during the day just out of interest? And are you allowed floats in the pool?

Here's a link to the May activities guide to give you and example of what you will find. http://www.kennythepirate.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/pop_recreation_Page_1.jpg

Stay with POP! You and your girls will LOVE it.

I’m not a huge fan of the values, but unless you are planning on having a mid day resort break where you’ll be using the resort amenities and plan on being at the parks for the majority of the day I’d stay at Pop. Their new rooms are nice.
If you are planning on daily resort time I’d think about Port Orleans Riverside in the mansion section.
