Accelerating into April 2026 Exercise Thread

Evening all,

So we've now only got 1 week left in the month, which I'm not complaining about as it means my trip will be here! And we've some more colour changes in the past few days - congrats to ShannyMcB for reaching orange, Alicatt for reaching purple, myself Clappyclaps for reaching pink and to luvpoohandcompany and piglet1979 for hitting your goals and reaching green!

Next up on our adventure into acceleration is a trip to DCA with.... Incredicoaster!

Originally Incredicoaster opened as California Screamin' in 2001, the same time the park opened. This version closed in January 2018, reopening 6 months later as the new Incredicoaster, themed for The Incredibles and coinciding with the release date of The Incredibles 2.

The ride just sneaks into the top 5 fastest rides across the Disney parks, with a top speed at the launch of 55mph (88km/h), reaching this in 4 seconds. It's also the fastest ride at the Disneyland resort. It features a track length of 6072 feet, making it the seventh longest steel rollercoaster in the world and third longest in the US. It is also the worlds longest steel rollercoaster with an inversion.

The original safety announcements for the ride were recorded by Dee Bradley Baker, and they were then updated in 2010 with Neil Patrick Harris, before being replaced with the Incredibles retheme.

Unusually there have been a few incidents over the years with Incredicoaster, albeit before it's retheme - including one train rear-ending another in 2005 and a backpack falling out of a train onto the track in 2007 causing a train to valley and the riders needing to be rescued by firefighters.

As always, I'll leave you with a ride POV video and one of my awful ride photos (front left)!

Thoughts on Incredicoaster anyone? Love it, hate it?

I loved it. It was one of my favourite rides at the Disneyland resort. I was expecting it to be really shaky and rickety but it was so smooth and really fun to ride.

Guardians of the Galaxy is the best new Disney coaster in ages in my mind. It's like they took everything that was right about Space Mountain and plus-ed it up. I adore Guardians, and would ride it 15 times in a row if I could (I've only managed 3 times). I'm crossing my fingers that someday Disney offers an EPCOT after hours event during one of my trips.

Monday + 64 minutes
Today + 25 minutes (this my 'I don't want to' minimum. Even if I don't want to work out I do 25 minutes before I quit. Most days I can convince myself to keep going, but not today.)

I haven't gotten to go on Cosmic Rewind yet. 😕
If we're ever at Epcot at the same time, I will ride it with you! I love this ride, but my daughter hates it, and my husband will only ride barnstormer, sdmt, and big thunder. We made the mistake of convincing him to ride everest once, and that ruined him. I need a cosmic rewind buddy!

+ 129 for walks the past couple of days. Loving the glorious weather here atm!

Total = 1642/1800

In other news it is only 6 days until I'm in Orlando! I've started a bit of a pre-trip report linked below, which is basically my random ramblings and I'll then go on to update during/after my trip, in case anyone wants to follow along  and if anyone happens to be at Universal/WDW at the same time and wants to say hello, just give me a shout!

Pre-Trip Report

Morning all,

We now only have 4 days until the end of the month (and again my trip  ) and some great progress being made my all! Congrats to ShannyMcB for reaching purple, to Raya, Twilight Sparkle and the Team for hitting pink and to myself for reaching my goal and hitting green!

Next up on our adventure into acceleration is the 3rd fastest ride in all of the Disney Parks... Tron Lightcycle Run!

Tron-Lightcycle--Run-will-thrill-guests-at-Disney'.jpg

Inspired primarily by the second Tron film, Tron: Legacy, the ride reaches a top speed of 59.3mph (95.4km/h). The motorbike style ride vehicles were developed by Disney Imagineering as a way of specialising the rider experience, and the ride itself was then given a Tron theme because of how these ride vehicles resembled the lightcycles in Tron: Legacy.

The ride first debuted in Shanghai Disneyland when the park first opened in 2016. The WDW version was announced in 2017 and was to be constructed on a plot of land originally set aside for a WDW clone of the Matterhorn Bobsleds. The WDW version was meant to open in 2021 in time for the 50th anniversary celebrations, however it was delayed until April 2023 due to the pandemic.

The majority of the ride music is a remix of the music composed by Daft Punk for the film, with a remix of Nine Inch Nails included for the Tron: Ares overlay last year.

As always, here's a ride POV video to enjoy, another of my horrendous ride photos and also a video of the Ares overlay for those like me that might have missed it!

So what does everyone think of Tron? Despite how terrified i look on the above ride photo (really not photogenic on rides at all 😂 ), I really love this ride it's so much fun and the theming is right up my street as Tron: Legacy is an incredible looking film. I was a little sad to miss the Ares overlay in Shanghai too. Only complaint about this ride which is a common one, is that it is way too short!

Tron looks fun! It will likely be on the list for our next trip.
