Can anyone tell me which charachter breakfast would be better??
Which Characters are at each breakfast for Chef Mickeys or Cape Maye Cafe??
Food better at 1 or the other??
Any menu differences??
Do we need park passes to get in to either??
Thanks for the Help!!

You don't need park passes for either one.

Cape May Cafe is in the Beach Club Resort. That is IMHO one of the hidden jewels in character meals. The buffet is fabulous and we have always had excellent service there. The characters are Goofy, Chip, Dale and Minnie in beachwear.

I haven't done Chef Mickey's for breakfast yet, but it's on our list of to-dos. This one is in the Contemporary. So it might be a good breakfast before you head into MK. I have heard more good reviews of breakfast than of dinner. Not that the dinner sucks, but breakfast seems to get more WOW reviews. The characters there are Mickey, Goofy, Chip and Dale and maybe Pluto.

In terms of menu differences, there may be one or two, but for the most part, buffets are fairly similar. You can check the menus at http://www.allearsnet.com for the detailed menu.

I believe the prices are the same for both. $16.99 for adults, $8.99 for kids.

The line-ups for the meals are as follows-

Chef Mickey's: Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip, Dale, and Pluto for breakfast and Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip, Dale, and Donald for dinner.

Cape May Cafe: Goofy, Minnie, Chip, and Dale ar breakfast.

Characters can occasionally varry from day to day so a character may be missing from the line up or replaced with another random character on any given day. I believe only Mickey at Chef Mickey's and Goofy at Cape May are guarenteed to be there. The others while are always supose to be the ones I have listed above occasionally are different.

Both are great, in my opinion.

The decision might very well come to down which park you may be hitting that day.

If you're going to Magic Kingom -- go with Chef Mickey's.

If you're going to EPCOT or MGM -- you can walk to EPCOT or MGM (or hop on one of the free shuttle boats) from Beach Club. Actually, EPCOT is a very short walk while MGM would be quite a bit longer (but, hey, walking off a buffet might not be a bad idea).

If you're going to Animal Kingdom -- well, there's always the character breakfast inside the park.

I love the Cape May Character Breakfast, and go at least once on every trip!

It seems a lttle calmer and quieter at Cape May, and we've always had great character interaction. The first time we went my DD was 2 1/2 and the place was practically empty. Chip and Dale sat down with my DD and colored funny pictures of each other for over 20 minutes! Goofy kept dragging my to my feet to dance around with him.

While we have never had that kind of experience again, we have never felt neglected there. the characters never seem rushed.

Plus, I think the food is great. It's tasty and always very fresh!

We have eaten at both and enjoyed both. Cape May is quieter and Chef Mickey's has a more "party" feel to it. The food was good both places and the characters were pretty much the same. You should be happy with either choice. My advice is to take your time while you are there and look around the gorgeous resorts.

My kids LOVE Chef Mickey's. The food is pretty good, but the atmosphere is what's best. Be warned...it's really loud, but the characters really interact and spend a lot of time with the kids. We've been there four times - seen Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, Goofy and Pluto. Never have been lucky to run into Donald, thought. That would have been a treat!

The service all four times was excellent. Be forewarned...maybe I just had bad luck but each time the coffee in the carafe was cold. Never a problem at Disney, however. Each time the server was cheerful, smiling and willing to please. I got a new steaming fresh cup without any hesitation.

One thing to think about if you have young kids...the monorail drives right through the Contemporary, just above the restaurant and my son (5 at the time) thought it was so cool. He thought it was so cool, in fact, when I thought he was right behind me at the buffet line he wandered off to see where it went and got lost. Scared me to death (him too). So...keep a close grip on your kids if they're into the monorail as much as mine.

las thing...one place I really liked, although I know I'm in the minority on this...is the Pooh bear character buffet at GF. We saw Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Mary Poppins, Alice and Mad Hatter. I believe price is about the same, but it is much quieter.

As with all in Disney...every choice will be great.

Both are very good, and you can't go wrong with either one. Chef Mickey's is more exciting and more of an event, and Cape May is more relaxing and less hectic. Cape May will probably be easier to get a PS for your preferred time. Unless your kids absolutely must see Mickey or Goofy at the breakfast (which limits your choice to Chef Mickey's), you should just pick whichever is more convenient for you that day. As others have already posted, Chef Mickey's is just a monorail ide away from MK, while Cape May is a short walk to EPCOT or boat ride to MGM. We love both of them and usually get to both during our stay. Whatever you choose, you will enjoy it.

I've eaten at both places. In my opinion the food is much better at Cape May.

veruka,
Just to let you know, Donald is usually there for Dinner. He hangs around in the front lobby area (near the desserts) with Goofy. We have never seen him for Breakfast either.

We're going to do the Cape May Breakfast buffet when we go at end of September. I know this is quiet season, but wondering if we're best to book a 7:30am PS or book around 9:30am? Is food quality and character interaction still good later in the morning? Thanks, Jo

Wow. thanks for the tip re: donald, Mickey Maniac!

I didn't know he made a regular appearance at dinner. We'll have to try it sometime.

No park passes to get into either place. They are both located in resorts so as long as you don't enter a park to get there (i.e. walk through Epcot to get to the Beach Club) then no admission needed.
I prefer Cape May. the interaction with characters is so personal and the food is great!
My 4 y.o. DD is coosing this meal over Cinderella's breakfast if that tells you anything!;)
