Hi Everyone!

We will be staying at POP for our next trip in early January. Which building will be best for a 4 year old boy?

It depends... Do you want to be close to the foodcourt and buses? That's where I like to be. My choice is 70's Big Wheel. That's also a good building if you want to be near the Goofy Pop Jets. The 60's are preferred ($10/night extra).
Check out Chip 'n Dale Express' photos of Pop Century http://www.fricknfrack.net/pop/pop1.html
To see where the buildings are take a look at the Pop Century Resort Map

If you want to be near a specific icon here is a list of all the decades and their icons:

50s:
Stairwells will be Brunswick Bowling Pins
Pool – The 10th bowling pin
Building 1 – Lady
Building 2 – Jukebox
Building 3 – Tramp

60s:
Stairwells will be Duncan Yo-Yos
Pool – Hippy Dippy pool, and kiddie pool
Building 4 – Play-Doh
Building 5 – Mowgli & Baloo

70s:
Stairwells will be 8-Tracks
Pool – Goofy’s Pop-Jet pool area
Courtyard will feature giant Foosball players
Building 6 – Mickey Mouse Phone
Building 10 – Big Wheel cart.

80s:
Stairwells will be Rubik’s Cubes
Building 7 – Roger Rabit perched upon some Dip
Building 9 – Sony Walkman

90s:
Stairwells will be Cell Phones
80s/90s pool will be a giant computer monitor
Building 8 – Giant Laptop Computer

Thank you so much for the info, especially the detailed pictures. I am more excited now than ever to go. I think we will definitely stay at the 70's big wheel since we want to be close to the buses and foodcourt.

Do you prefer the Pop century over ASMovies and ASMusic (I saw that you have stayed there as well)? Do you know anything about the playgrounds at each?

Again, thanks so much for providing us with the feedback!

Jennifer

I do prefer Pop over ASMo and ASMu. ASMu and ASSp were the only value resorts at WDW when we first stayed on property. I'm not a big sports fan so we stayed a Music. We stayed there a few times, then Movies opened and I couldn't wait to try it out. ASMo quickly became my favorite resort. When Pop opened I wasn't sure I wanted to stay there because I loved Movies. We decided to try it and now Pop is my favorite. I still like the character icons better at ASMo, but Pop has it's advantages. We like the buses better at Pop because you don't share with other resorts. I think the foodcourt is better. And the resort is newer. ASMo was showing it's age a little the last time we stayed there (worn carpet, comforters, furniture).

The playground are all about the same at the values.
Movies Playground
Pop Playground

Coronado Springs has the best resort playground. http://allearsnet.com/acc/g_cs.htm Scroll down to Recreation and Fun and click on the Explorer's Playgound links.

Thanks Again Sandy:

Our son is a Toy Story ADDICT! That is why I am so torn between ASMO &
POP. I think Pop would be better for us as a family, but I just know he would LOVE the Woody and Buzz stuff at ASMO. Maybe we can just take him there one day to see it.

Thanks for all your help. It does sound like POP is the nicer hotel overall.
