Hi everyone,

My family and I are taking an impromptu trip to So. California and are spending 4 days in the Anaheim area. We presently have a reservation at Marriott Townplace Suites (2 bedroom suite) for about $500 for 4 nights (it's just the other side of I-5). OR....we can stay at the Disneyland Hotel for about $1,000 for 4 nights.

We are planning to go to Disneyland for 4 days and have our park hopper tix already.

Any thoughts? We've never been before and are clueless!

For my nickle, I'd stay where you are and enjoy $500 in "mad mouse money" while at the park...

I and a lot of other people are sold on walking distance hotels. Here is some info to consider:

"Hidden Time Losses When Using a Car At DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1381580

You have to consider all factors...

1) Is there a shuttle that takes you from your Marriot hotel to Disneyland, and the cost per person each day

2) Are you going to drive to Disneyland each day... How much is it for parking each day, and gas to get there

3) Would you rather walk or take a quick monorail back to your hotel at the end of a tiring day, or dont drive back to your hotel.

4) Are you looking into getting that full "Disney Vacation" feel?

Personally if you dont mind the commute then stay at the Marriot. But if you dont mind paying the extra $500, you might find it well worth the money to be closer. Especially if you want to just get up and leave for a few hours for a rest and a swim back at your hotel before making that trip back to the park. Because waiting for shuttles can take awhile, and they dont always go directly to your hotel, they will drop off others before you. This can waste quite a bit of time.

There are several nice places across the street *very much within walking distance* from DLR ~ perhaps you could consider them....

Yah Good point DisneyMomma81. There are!!!! May I suggest the Howard Johnson, Tropicana or the Carousel???

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think we are going to go with the HoJo's across the street. The Marriott is tempting since it has 2 bedrooms....but we prefer to walk over drive and park...and you can't beat the HoJo parking price (FREE!).

I'd love to do DLH...but I can't seem to justify the cost difference (about $400 for 3 nights).
