I bought my Universal tickets online so I can do early entry at 8am. We are planning a Monday visit. Can you tell me what time I should leave our off site Disney hotel to get through the traffic to Universal?

Thank you!

We are having Anaheim Tour Company take us from Disney Hotel to Universal next week. They said they will pick us up at 7:05am.. to get there at opening.

Best case it should take 40-45 minutes, I'd do 1 hour to get there, but I have no clue how long parking usually takes. Maybe 6:15 to be parked by 7:30, with a little padding, just in case.

Did the drive up yesterday it took 1hr 15min, that was with traffic on a Saturday afternoon.

I would try to head out around 5:30 AM or so, traffic is lighter than later in the morning, but traffic is well known to happen anywhere in the Southland. In fact our local morning news broadcasters have special Traffic reporters, and my cable companies has a specific Traffic channel (something like the Weather Channel).

I would turn on channel 5 on the TV in your hotel room when I first get up, and pay attention to the reports.

If you have a traffic app or a GPS map with traffic, that helps to give alternatives routes if needed. Just remember, it is against the law for the driver of a vehicle to have a smartphone in their hands. So let a passenger help you, or get a special hands free mount so you can see the screen.

Also, the two main traffic reports on radio are 1070 AM and 640 AM, as part of their news/talk programming.

Too late now for the OP, but it took us over a half hour to get parked, walk through the parking garage, get allllllllll the way through citywalk, get around the metal detectors to the entrance to the detectors, and to the entrance for the park. Leaving half an hour wouldn't have been enough time.

We were there last Tuesday (August 30th) we left Anaheim (we stayed at HOJO) at 6:40am and got to USH just before 8:40am!!!! It was BRUTAL! Plus, both myself and my youngest DD were car sick  DH pulled the car over to the shoulder on one of the freeways ( I get the numbers mixed up!) so I could puke...fun times. After all that we splurged and got front gate parking for $40 lol
