Really need convincing as I am getting more and more confused now. Going next Nov/Dec next year.Do We do plan 1:
4 days off site then 4 night cruise then 6 nights onsite(OKW One bedroom or 2studios BW/AKLV dvc)
OR Plan 2:
7 nights western cruise 8 nights off site(looking at floridays or cypress point as need 2 bedrooms.):confused3

Looking at cost and what we want to do which is
Discovery cove
IOA(not US)
Busch Gdns
4 disney parks.
Doing the 7 night just limits us to doing a park every day with no rest day or shopping day.Have a budget of around £6000.That doesnt include spending money.Flights for this year m+m are around £1550 for 3 adults and a child so not too worried about booking the flights as loads of availibility beginning of december. If I wasnt such a disney snob about staying onsite I dont think the cost would be an issue but after staying onsite so many times I am a bit worried about stepping out my comfort zone. We will have a car if staying offsite as well so will give us more freedom with resturants etc.
Sorry but although I am a veteran I will be asking you for your advice a lot.

Its sooooooooooooooo hard.Think everyones at work:confused3Only you and me posting:lovestruc

I say the first option too. You want to do a lot of the parks and things so a 7 night cruise would really eat into that time. Nothing worse than rushing through everything and not stopping to really enjoy it!

I would do the first plan

Your first offsite days give you time and better location to do the non Disney parks

Have the four day cruise.

Be based at Disney to utilise your park time to the full, remembering that you now will spend 7 days in parks, not 12 or 14 - different kind of planning.

Having done a 7 day cruise I would say the 3 or 4 day ones are not worth it - even on the 7 day one there were places on the ship we didn't get too, and things we didn't see or experience. I think a 3 or 4 day one will leave you coming off feeling very unsatisfied.

I'm a bit of an onsite snob as well BUT if it was a case of either not going to Orlando, or staying on I-Drive in a shoe box then I know what I would do!! And lets face it - you actually get a much better size room usually with more facilities off-site for the same money, so you may enjoy it in a different way!

So I would be option 2!!

Just my opinion, though I seem in the minority!!:goodvibes

Only because I think you are the only poster on here so far who has done a cruise. :goodvibes It's good to get some balance in the decision. I have never heard anyone say that a Disney cruise was too long or that they didn't like it. But I have never done one.

Perhaps Crabbie should post a similar question on the Cruise Board too, just to get a range of opinions.

My comment was specifically related to the onsite question as I couldn't imagine staying offsite.

Have you considered an off site villa instead of an off site hotel?? Private pool may make up for not being onsite and when ever we have looked at hotels we find a villa is cheaper and more luxurious :thumbsup2

I would also go option 2 !! I think if you going to experience a cruise do it properly and take a 7 day one :goodvibes

Firstly can someone tell me how to hilight what people have suggested so I can quote my answers:confused3
Thankyou for all your suggestions.DB is trying very hard to convince me that staying offsite will be fine:rolleyes1 Now I have to decide where we stay if we do the cruise first,as will land around 2.30pm and will need to sleep somewhere the first night. May book DVC for one night(so I get a little fix) then can get transfers from disney hotel to cruise. It doesnt seem worth having a car whilst on a cruise. I am now going to have a good look at the cruises eastern or western thats the question:confused3

Thanks Buzz. I will try it. Well I have priced up 7 night western (2 cabins early dec ) approx for flights,7 nights off site, all tickets we need and food and works out to £7400:scared1:
Doing 4 nights off site,4 night cruise(2 cabins inside) and 6 onsite deluxe with paid DDP and all tickts £6200-quite a difference. Have decided on plan 1. The £1200 will go a long way towards the spending money.
