Just wondering what Savannah view is your favorite? I would like to put a request in but don't know anything about any of them. :confused3 Any help would be much appreciated.

We've stayed on the Zebra Trail which is the one by Arusha Rock. The Kudu Trail is on the opposite side of Arusha Rock. Either one you get a good view of the animals.

I'll be interested to hear everyone's reply. We have only had a room on the Uzima Savannah and loved it. We are requesting Sunset Savannah for our December trip. Hope to try Arusha someday, but of the three that one appealed to us the least because of how big it is.

I wasn't sure what to request for our stay either. We told the IPO office our request was to be in a room with a view of a savannah that was "active" with animals and didn't have a big people pen in the middle. We also didn't want to be too far from the lounge. I don't mind being on the 5th floor, I just don't want to be on the opposite side of the building!

I figured if I do more research between now and our trip I can change my request but at least the request is in there for now and if I forget to change it, hopefully we will still end up somewhere good. ;)

Hi,

We have had a savanna view three times at the AKL. Our first two stays we had a view of the Arusha Savanna. This past Jan we have a view of the Uzima Savanna and I can tell you that we were just as happy with the Uzima as we were with the Arusha. I would reconmend you request a trail over a savanna. The Zebra Trail is the most convienent IMHO.

I personally like the Arusha trail, but I think any Savannah views are good. We've had very good luck seeing tons of different animals on the Arusha trail, but I'm sure many people would tell you they saw tons of animals on other trails too. Don't forget that you can walk around the resort, there are many many places to view the animals. We have loved our rooms at AKL and really enjoy the whole resort.

ENJOY!!

Hi,

Just to clarify this there is no "Arusha trail". There is the "Arusha Savanna" which can be view from rooms located on either the "Zebra Trail" or the "Kudu Trail".

I just do not want any newbies to get confused.

We have always had a room on the fifth floor on the Arusha Savannah, Zebra trail. This is the side of the lodge where the pool and restaurants are located. We had a perfect view of the savannah.

Thanks for the replies... that made everything a bit more clear. So there are only 2 trails with 3 savannahs or two? :wave2:

Hi,

There are three savannas. The Sunset Savanna, the Arusha Savanna and the Uzima Savanna.

There are four trails.

The Ostrich Trail has both standard view rooms and savanna view rooms. The savanna that the Ostrich Trail overlooks is the Sunset Savanna.

The Kudu Trail has all savanna view rooms. Some overlook the Sunset Savanna and some overlook the Arusha Savanna.

The Zebra Trail has savanna and pool view rooms. The savanna view rooms can overlook either the Arusha Savanna or the Uzima Savanna and the other rooms overlook the pool area.

The Giraffe Trail has both standard view room and pool view rooms. Some of the pool view rooms on the higher floor provide a look at animals off in the distance on the Uzima Overlook Savanna. This is just the part of the Uzima Savanna that extends behind the pool area.

Hope this makes sense. Please feel free to ask any additional questions.

Thanks I definitely think I have it now :cool1:

You are welcome. We love the AKL and cannot wait to get back there for our sixth stay in Jan 2006.

Another thing to consider is that there are different animals on the 3 savannahs. My daughter HAD to have zebras (hey, she's been a zebra for two Halloweens!) so the CM I made my reservation with told me she'd note that in my reservation and the people at the resort, who know exactly what lives where, would take it into consideration. We got a great room on Arusha Savannah, which is where the zebras live. Arusha also has wildebeest, elands, and giraffes.

Others may remember more exactly than I can, but I think Uzima had all the cool antelope-type creatures with horns... bongos, gazelles... and if you wanted to see ostriches, you had to have the Sunset Savannah.

I think Allearsnet.com has a list of the animals on the 3 savannahs somewhere.

We were on the Zebra trail and had a view of two Savannah's (and the people pen). I was disappointed with our room at first, but we saw every animal they have from our room and that was cool. This is the view we had.

We had ostriches out our room and we weren't on the Sunset savannah.

We just came back from a 7-night stay at AKL. We were in room 3459 which overlooked the Uzima Savannah on the Zebra Trail. We loved the room!

It was a bunkbed room (requested) and it was only 2 alcoves down from the elevator. We were a very short walk to Mara, the pool, Boma and Jiko, and a slightly longer walk to the bus stops (you have to go back thru the lobby to get to and from the bus stops).

Before I went, I thought i I wanted a room on the Arusha Savannah, but after our stay, I am not sure. The rooms that overlook that savannah are on what I would call the "main drag." We really liked being on an off shoot!
