Help! We're here and can't use gift cards

A gift card is meant to be used at the place that it is for. If you get it exchanged for cash then you can spend it anywhere else and not just at Universal.

I agree but until Universal decides to make gift cards that actually work like real gift cards, then they will need to deal with the issues.

Guest Services will exchange it for cash but it is frowned upon.

Ahh, but they aren't exchanging the gift cards for cash. They are exchanging Universal Dollars for cash. Even Disney exchanges Disney Dollars. If the cards worked like a gift card, they wouldn't have to exchange them for Universal dollars.
