I <3 Sparkpeople. And Coach Nicole is great!!! I"m restarting the January Bootcamp today to get back on track. You can add me as a friend if you like. I'm "Bo Peep" on sparkpeople.:yay:

I don't know if you've ever watched that show "Eat Yourself Thin" but I liked that show. ALOT. It showed you how to eat healthier versions of things you already eat now! Yep you still can make lasagna, burgers, and even cupcakes! You're actually adding healthier ingredients. I've tried some of the recipes so far and they're so yummy! I'm a huge tuna melt person and love to slather it over white bread. Well they showed me how to make it with portabello mushrooms (which I LOVE) and it was delicious! Doing this with some exercise can help you slowly lose the weight. I'm a size 10/12 and I'm at a goal for 7/8 over the next 90 days! Nothing like exercise and still being able to eat food without depriving yourself. You can google the name and go and print out some recipes. The recipe book itself is only like $12 though

:grouphug:Thanks everyone you're all a great big support group. If any of you are also dieting- GOOD LUCK:yay: I have looked into Sparks and it seems really great. Thank you all for that peice of advice. I am going to try some of everything you all throw at me. Thanks again for the advice.princess:

I second (or third) the Weight Watchers program. Fantastic, easy to follow, and realistic to maintain. They also offer an online only program if you don't have the time to make it to a meeting weekly.
A tip I'd offer to you is to eat a protein with each meal. Try a string cheese with a piece of fruit, a tablespoon of peanut butter with some celery sticks, a hard boiled egg, etc. The protein will fill you up and maintain your energy longer than carbohydrates alone.

Good Luck - a positive attitude is a great step in the right direction!

I am going to give Weight Watchers a big thumbs up too! :thumbsup2

I have been overweight all of my life, started dieting in elementary school and have never had the same results as I have had with Weight Watchers.

I am down 50lbs and have kept it off...I still have more I want to lose and I am working on it.

With every other diet I have lost interest, gained all of my weight back +20lbs...not this time! I have yo-yo'ed up and down a bit, but I am hold pretty firm at -50. That is great for me.

The key to any program is to plan, plan, plan. Prepare your fruits and veggies right after you shop so they are handy and easy to grab!

Weight Watchers also has a free message board with lots of tips and support!

I find that eating smaller snacks or meals every 3-4 hours helps, they say this helps with your glycemic index to keep your sugars level which helps burn calories, and my Doctor told me the same thing some one here already mentioned about cutting 500 calories per day will help you loose 1 lb per week. Alot of loosing weight is portion control, use smaller plates that way you trick your mind into thinking you have a full plate, or just eat half of what is on your plate. Eat plenty of veggies with your meals (not potatoes). I joined nutrisystem for a month as I wanted to see the portion sizes and the calories they were recommending (plus they use the glycemic index method) and have been doing it on my own since, I have had a slow but steady loss and am down 20+ lbs and that is without any extra exercise, like you I walk around all day, up and down stairs and I am pooped at the end of the day, but it sounds like you are on the right track good luck with your goals:thumbsup2

I weighed in today...and by simply measuring and counting all my calories( not depriving myself but making better choices), an exercise routine that includes both weight training and cardio(mostly walking) and my body bugg...I have lost 6 .6 lbs in 8 days!

CONGRATULATIONS:dance3: Keep it up

I have to agree with the Weight Watchers people. I joined 12 weeks ago. I haven't been deprived or starved at all since I started, and I have lost 26 pounds. My goal is 35 so I hope to have it met before our Disney trip in September. I have had to just remember to use filling foods like veggies, fruit, and low fat proteins as meals and snacks. My DS4 and DS1 are loving some of the snack changes such as low fat popcorn and baked chips. Whatever you decide to do, the best advice I can offer is stick with it and don't get discouraged. Slow and steady wins the race!

Hey..great to see your trying to lose weight...it is easy in theory but can be a real pain...no pun intended. I am a personal trainer and nutritional consultant, I deal with this everyday. If you can work with a PT that would be best (just long enough that you have a grip on what to do and when and what to eat) You have to have a balance of proper food (fats, proteins and carbohydrates) exercise (weight training and cardio) and supplementation..if you cant work with a trainer, then The Zone Diet has had good results..If you have ANY medical issues or medications that you are taking you NEED to speak with someone about your food intake. It can REALLY mess you up if your not careful. I know how frustrating the process can be. I lost 101 lbs and then 85 lbs after my last pregnancy. But it CAN be done..Good luck!!!
