Looking to get away weekend of March 16 or 17 -19. 2 adults anyone with any helpful sites please let me know. I have triped my normal site and I am not coming up w/ very good rates.

Try www.vegas.com. That's pretty helpful. DH's aunt works for the Venetian and said weekends in March are crazy because of NCAA backetball tourneys, so just be prepared. Plus it's St. Patrick's Day....not sure if that increases crowds though. If you're looking for a nice, moderately priced hotel on the strip, I suggest Paris. It's really neat and centrally located. Have fun!!

I believe that's right in the middle of March Madness (college basketball), so if you're just now looking for a cheap room, there will be none to be had unless you have a casino host. Prices are through the roof, and the place will be packed.

Straitlover is right - my sisinlaw is going March 14-17 - their room rate TRIPLES for the last night of their stay. Maybe trying off strip at Orleans or the new SouthCoast casino?

OK I am zero basketball and din't know this. How long does this go on??? Would the following weekend be better or am I doomed???

Taht weekend is the first, so it's the busiest. Teh next weekend will not be quite as busy, but I checked a couple places and prices are almost as high, so I wouldn;t go them either. I think the whole thing is 5 weeks? Starts w/ 64 teams, then 32, then 16, then 8, then the final 4.

The Orleans is one of the hotels I checked. Rates that weekend show as $180/night for 3/17-19 (3/16 is $63 using a special that they have). The next weekend, Fri-Sat is $130/night. The following 2 weekends Fri-Sat is $120/night. Those look like regular prices becasue the weekend is always on the high side at any hotels in Vegas. Here's the link for the specials:

If you go to http://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/ , go to the Hotel Deals and Offers section. People post links to all kinds of specials there.

Thanks for your help I have to sit w/ calendar and see what I can do with the girls schedules They areso busy it makes it hard sometimes.

Besides the Basketball in March, the weekend before is the Nascar Race, Hubby and I are going and we booked back in November, not the rates are tripple what I paid, for the same room, same number of nights. So becareful, as I am sure it will be very busy for most of the month of march.

March in Vegas is pretty bad.

We happened to get married there almost three years ago on the 22nd and we lucked out with places to stay, etc, because we made all the reservations months and months in advance and we made sure our wedding guests did, too. Looking back on it now, I am absolutely shocked that we pulled it off, I am also ignorant of sports and I had no idea it was smack dab in the middle of the basketball tournament.

We've tried to go back for our anniversary each year for the past three years and have yet to luck into a good enough price to make the trip reasonable. March is just bad for last-minute Vegas trips. April and May seem to be better though.

I'm on a number of email lists for various hotels and get monthly newsletters for discounted rooms. The rates in March are significantly higher than normal - with what everyone's already said, don't forget all the spring breakers in March as well. There are discounts to be had - but you're not going to find the greatest deal if you want to stay on the Strip.

I pulled off a last minute NYE trip, but we stayed at the Doubletree for $120 a night (compared to $500+ a night on the Strip) If you're not dead set on staying on the Strip or at a megaresort, you might find more reasonable deals.

If you still want to make it out there AND stay on the Strip, here is what I've got from the most recent NYNY email ...

3/16 - 279
3/17 - 289
3/18 - 299
3/19 - 139
(if you can take a couple days AFTER the weekend instead of before, the $139 rate runs through Wed night)

Weekend rate are usually double those of weeknight rates in Vegas, so if you can do weeknights, you'd be better off.

Also, if you have a Costco membership, try their travel for Vegas, it was the cheapest by far for DH and I when we went last April.

Just to add something if you find days to go buy the agm discount book. Its kind of like a entertainment book for vegas. They sell for around $10 but well worth it like one coupon pays for the book. My two cents!! Thats all I have left from going to vegas last time :rotfl2:

Also go to www.lasvegastalk.com and check out their forums. We got a 3 night weekend in December at the Flamingo for $150 including tax. It came with free dinner and spa passes and some other discounts. We couldn't even get the 2 stars hotels for this cheap that weekend. Good luck!

We went last July and got a decent rate at the Sahara - around $80 midweek. Circus Circus was a bit cheaper, but the Sahara has the major convenience of being on the monorail, which is well worth it!

Flamingo usually has good deals and while it's not high-flooten, it's certainly nice enough, a beautiful pool area- but best, a fab location. If you stay there, get their casino card. Although I'm not a big gambler, they are always sending me free nights and great deals.

Good luck,
Jenn

To avoid the strip prices and to gamble in a more relaxed (and cheaper - $.50 roulette) atmosphere, we always stay at Sam's Town on Boulder Highway. And they offer free buses back and forth every hour or so to 3 or 4 different areas on the Strip and also to Fremont Street. So when we want the action and crowds of the Strip, we hop on the bus. We do most of our gambling there at Sam's though. Sam's Town and Boulder Station are great casinos right there on Boulder Highway. Have to say that the dealers at Sam's Town make going to another casino very hard. They are super friendly and helpful when you are learning new games. They also have great places to eat ... Billy Bob's is a fantastic steak house!
