Help Us Find the Cheapest Cigarettes, Please!

Marlboro does. DM used my name to sign up on hier website so she could get double the coupons. I toss them out when I get them, but that's between me and my mom, and not y'all. They are usually like $4 or $5 off a carton.

Wow! I knew they had gone up but didn't know how much. They ere 17.10 a carton when I quit 15 years ago. Just a thought about the Nicorette gum. It really helped me and has saved me thousands in the long run. That being said you have to want to quit. It is not easy. My mom used to buy from the indian reservations also. Not sure where you live but there are a lot in Nevads.

Certainly the price of Nicorette and Nicoderm is cheaper than cigarettes finally.

:goodvibes
Honestly pertaining to your post. My father is a smoker, and has tried every gum, pill out there to try for quitting. But, still cannot quit. :confused3

You really have to wonder just how "much" the government really wants people to quit smoking - that's an awful lot of revenue to miss out on.. Each time NY adds a new tax to cigarettes, the stores follow suit and increase the cost of the quit aids - which don't "equal" the amount of a pack of cigarettes.. (Meaning you would need several packs of gum as opposed to one pack of cigarettes to reduce the cravings- so you're paying considerably more each time you purchase the aid..)

Now that manufacturers have come out with electronic cigarettes as a way of quitting smoking (cigarettes that can be smoked anywhere because they don't throw off any smoke or other harmful toxins) "big brother" has jumped in there as well - halting production and shipping - by using the FDA as a "cover".. FDA is saying that in order for them to be used as a quit smoking aid, they have to be tested by the FDA to be sure they are "safe".. (As in: we've got to come up with a way to make these much more expensive - and tax them heavily).. What I find amusing about all of this is that the FDA is rushing to produce the H1N1 vaccine by July - which will then make anyone who receives this untested vaccine a "human guinea pig".. In that case, I guess they aren't too concerned with "safety" - in terms of "testing"..;)

However, I may be getting into "politics" here, so I guess I shouldn't say anymore..

For those choosing to buy online, just be very careful and very aware of your state regulations so that you don't end up with a huge fine - as well as paying all of the back state and federal taxes..

Good luck with your search, OP..:)

No - it's not.. Nor are any of the other quit-smoking aids..

2 packs of (105 pc) Nicorette gum $45.98. A total of 210 pieces. That's cheaper than a carton of smokes. That much nicotine will cure anybody.

PA -

Parliament - $54 and change
Misty - $45 and change

To that you add 6% sales tax.

Just as a real eye opener - a nursing home resident on medical assistance (gov't insurance) receives a monthly allowance of $45. How would you like to be a smoker in a nursing home? Could you stretch a carton for a whole month?

Wow...those are still cheap smokes compared to Alberta Canada....we pay on average $12.00 and a carton of 200 cigarettes are over $80.00.....some places are more and some are cheaper but still not like in the US.........

Maybe that's the cost where you are - and it seems to me that when my DD went with the gum, it required a new piece every 15 minutes.. It wasn't effective at all ("that much nicotine will cure anybody" is not an accurate statement) - although she did end up quitting eventually by going "cold turkey" after a bad bout of bronchitis..:thumbsup2

Her DH couldn't use any of the quit aids (interactions with another medication he has been on since he was 12 and will have to continue to take for the rest of his life).. When Chantix came along his doctors told him it would be safe for him to use ($130) and he had great success with it..:thumbsup2 And then there are others that get so deathlly ill from it, it's not an option..

It would be nice if quitting was easy as saying, "I'll use this aid or that aid".. If it were, there wouldn't be anymore "smokers"..:goodvibes

Did you hear about the guy who is having himself dumped on a deserted island for a month to try and quit?

Now that might work - LOL..:rotfl: However, they would have to make sure he had no lighters or matches or he would like find "something" he could roll to "smoke"..:rotfl:

per pack for parliments is $8.55 at the gas station and walmart they where $9.75. Im trying to quit

I live just about 2 miles off an Indian Reservation. Even there they are just about $50.00 for a carton of "namebrand".

Cigarette coupons are the best way to get a better price. In the Chiacgo burbs there are many tobacco shops that will take coupons that don't match the brand you are buying, but only give you half the value of the coupon.

I just bought 4 cartons of Kool Milds, Saturday. After I used my coupons each carton was $32. I signed up everyone in my family for coupons and get 4 different sets for about 5 different brands.

What I really want to find is a place where I can but the E cigs in my area. You still get the nicotine but not the cancer causing agents. It's a vapor system that you smoke without any smoke emmision. You purchase cartridges and it is battery operated and shaped like a cigarette. I know they can be purchased on line but I want to see them and maybe try them before I purchase.

OP here. Thanks to everyone for your posts.

I forgot to say where we were! We are in CT (the tax you to death state) and a carton of Marlboro is about $64. DH and I both get coupons by signing up at their website, but $4 or $5 off a carton still does not make the price cheap enough. Years ago we used to order online from one of the reservations; however, CT also cracked down and has gone after people for the taxes.

I will definitely check out some of the sites mentioned.

I am guessing you don't smoke and never have. If it were that easy, no one would smoke. DH can't seem to kick it whatver he tries. I quit over 25 years ago with a 2 pack a day habit. One of the most difficult things I ever did.

Careful with the internet sites. Some states are getting customer information from the shipping companies (FedX) and maybe from the credit card companies. A site that says they won't supply customer information, unless compelled by law, isn't really giving you any assurance.

I'm not a smoker, but I remember when all the states, especially northern ones starting really raising taxes on cigarettes. Virginia and NC were always much cheaper, cause they didn't want to tax such a major employer in either state.

Indian Reservations, in some areas, have the lowest prices.

I know of many people in NJ who used to buy their cigs through Indian Reservations & have them shipped to them. Unfortunately, the NJ tax man caught up with them later on & they had to pay for all unpaid sales tax at one time (my nail technician got a bill for almost $1,500 :scared1:)

:guilty: Mo husband smoked for over 20 years an finally kicked it about 3 months ago with the prescription chantix. Its a daily struggle but our wallet is much happier

WOW! I'm so happy that I quit! Prices have gotten crazy. :scared:

In order to quit, he really has to want it. I mean with his head, heart, and soul. If there is any piece of him that doesn;t want to give it up, he won't be successful.
I wish him the best in his future attempts to quit. :goodvibes

Looks like we are rivaling the previous Canadian poster. At our Walmart here in Michigan, Marlboros, Salems, etc. are $8.57 a pack, and about $85 for a carton, all plus tax. The cheapest carton is around $65 at our store. Crazy!
