We are trying to decide what type of trip we want to have for our next cruise. Whether we add a couple of park days onto a short cruise or not or whether we do a 7 day cruise. Any input would be helpful in making a decision. We've only ever been on one cruise this past September on the Wish. It most definitely needs to be a Triton class ship. I will not be able to get my wife to get onto a smaller ship. Keep in mind we will have to fly in and out of Orlando. Flying in and out of Fort Lauderdale is not an option. There are personal reasons for this decision so there will be 3 hour drive south then north for the Destiny cruises.

I wouldn't want to deal with the travel up and down the state, but that's a personal preference.

I’d you’re having to fly in and out of Orlando regardless then I would pick the Treasure.

FWIW the Dream and Fantasy are very similar sized to the Wish class, approx 130,000 gross tons to 144,000, with a similar capacity at 4000 and the Wish class only being 4ft longer than the Dream class. They are not small ships.

I really like the Treasure, and I prefer sailing out of Port Canaveral, I definitely would do the Treasure!

The fantasy and the dream feel larger to me than the wish ships based on their design, I think they may be a bit wider than the Triton ships and you can feel the difference. The seating area in Cabanas is wider than in Marceline's. If you didn't want to do the drive down to Ft. Lauderdale the brightline is a good option but it can be pricey depending on how big of a group you are.

If the Dream or Fantasy are in Port Canaveral I would almost recommend one of those and then some park days. Like others have said. They are only smaller in weight and they feel bigger.

But I think my top choice would be the 7 nights on the Treasure. I always go for more Cruise days. But plan B would be a Dream class ship and park days.

I am personally not interested in the 3 hour drive each way from Orlando to FL. If you love the Wish, then sailing the Treasure is a no brainer.

I would also always prefer to be on a Disney ship than to be in a Disney park. Just a personal decision based on lots of DCL cruises and many, many, many Disney world vacations.

Do any of the itineraries appeal more? Or is this more about picking a ship, cruise length and embarkation port?

Been on 59 DCL cruises....been on all the ships (and like them all) We will do the Destiny next month. I would always pick a 7 day cruise over a 4 or 5 days cruise. We picked the Destiny as it is a new ship and I wanted to try it out but if I sailed it already I would pick the Treasure. That ship blew me away!!! Loved it. The Wish was fine but the Treasure was something else. Hoping the Destiny lives up to my standard for the Treasure!!

If you liked the Wish and must in/out at Orlando, then definitely do the 7 night Treasure. You get 1923 and World of Marvel menus from the Wish plus 2 addition menus plus 2 different menus with shows at Coco instead of Arendelle. Plus Haunted Mansion parlor, Moana and Beauty & the Beast stage shows.

I think you are limiting yourself by only looking at Wish class ships. The Dream class ships are only 4 feet shorter. Here are some valid reasons to reconsider your choices. My friend Arty Intel helped me with these.
Many Disney cruisers prefer the Disney Fantasy over the newer Disney Wish for its classic layout with easier navigation, spacious adult-only areas, larger pools, and longer itineraries, offering a more traditional, less crowded, and relaxed nautical experience, while the Wish, though newer, feels more like a hotel and can get crowded due to its design. The Fantasy offers more traditional entertainment spacing and classic vibes, appealing to those who enjoy a familiar Disney cruise feel, though the Wish boasts impressive new tech and immersive dining.
Reasons the Fantasy is Preferred by Some:
  • Layout & Navigation: Midship elevators and wider hallways make the Fantasy easier to navigate, whereas the Wish's compact design can feel like a bustling mall.
  • Adult Spaces: The Fantasy's adult-only deck and lounges (like Ooh La La) are larger, more centralized, and offer a better, less crowded atmosphere for nightlife.
  • Deck Space & Pools: It features larger pools and more deck space, preventing overcrowding compared to the Wish's smaller activity areas.
  • Vibe: Offers a more traditional, classic Disney cruise feel, which some guests prefer over the Wish's modern, hotel-like ambiance.
  • Itinerary Length: The Fantasy often sails longer cruises (5-7 nights), allowing more time to enjoy shows, dining, and relaxation, unlike the Wish's shorter trips.
  • Traditional Entertainment: Spreads out big shows over more nights, making the experience feel less rushed than on the shorter Wish sailings.

Though the Treasure is a beautiful ship, don't sell the Dream and the Fantasy "short". They are very similar in size to the Triton Class, with only the Magic and the Wonder (also beautiful ships) being smaller. No matter what you choose, I'm sure you'll have a great trip.

What's wrong with the Dream class? The Dream is my favorite ship out of all of them. But if it has to be a Wish class ship, I would do Treasure

I was going to say this as well. The Dream and Fantasy have the deck 4 promenade which we thoroughly enjoy. In fact, the lack of a promenade has made us hesitate to sail on the newer ships though we do have a Treasure cruise booked for the fall and next spring.
