Our Disneymoon is this coming September! We're planning 11 days, and doing a split stay. We've already got our reservation for VGF (renting points through a friend) for four days, from Sept. 11-15th. We are either going to do the remaining 7 days from Sept. 4-11, or from Sept. 15-22. We're flexible on dates.

First of all, we want the Deluxe DDP. It's our honeymoon and for us, we want to eat in all the nicer, Signature restaurants so it's easy to use 2TS and have another left over for breakfast and use our two snacks a day for a light lunch.

SO, here's where it gets tricky for us. Do we stay at POR and wait to book it until the end of April, which is probably when we'll hear whether or not there's Free Dining? (We'd just pay the extra charge to upgrade to the Deluxe DDP)

OR - if we can find it available, do we rent points from DVC rentals or through a DisBoards member, for the Value Studio at AKV, and just get them to add the Deluxe DDP, and we pay for it out of pocket? ...Can we even do that if we're renting points? It seems like you can, at least on DVC rentals.

Either way, I think it equals out to the same cost (The AKV option maybe just slightly cheaper).

If they would both be the same cost, I think I would choose to stay at AKL even though I haven't yet stayed at AKL or POR. You would just have to be confident that you wouldn't cancel or have to change plans when renting points. I think I would only choose POR if you plan to go to DTD often... Or else transportation is similar with busses at both and AKL has better theming I think :) I'm sure either is great though!

Definitely rent the points for the villa. Even if you spring for the savanna view, you'll still come out on top. As for the deluxe dining plan, I would only advise it if you really want to pay for the convenience of not thinking about food costs. It's not a great value for signature restaurants. You could probably put the amount that you would spend on the dining plan on a Disney gift card and be able to pay for everything the dining plan covers and everything it doesn't (like tips and adult beverages) and still come out with money to spare.

I would rent points for AKV. My boyfriend and I LOVED cuddling up on the balcony and checking out the animals with a cup of coffee in the AM or the evening with a glass of wine. You also have Jiko there, which is a super amazing Signature, if you haven't been there.
