Help us choose a studio for our trial run at AKV

We've decided to rent points for a trip to AKV. Yes, I'm pretty sure we'll eventually buy DVC, but then again it's a lot of money and it will feel really good to make sure we're doing the right thing (we already own another TS off-site).

But of course, before we rent points, we will need to know how many we have to rent :confused3

There are only 3 of us, and we spend almost all of our time outside (it will be snowing at home at that time, so we take advantage of the warm weather as much as possible) so a studio will be fine. We must have a balcony -- do they all have balconies? And we might not have a car, so I'm not sure about staying at Kidani if our goal is to see as much/do as much at the resort as we possibly can.

I know all about the points charts, etc. but maybe the more experienced DVC'ers could help us choose a studio/view for our first visit?

Thanks in advance :goodvibes

you are late for * 2010 - so you might not get a choice.

if you do would go with Jambo House - standard or value. although value will be tight - it might work for 3 of you.

Value is the cheapest but you have a chance for a parking lot view from the balcony.

Standard at Jambo will give you a pool view, at Kidani you could have a pool view, but most likely a parking lot view if you book a standard in Kidani.

I would go with a savannah view at whichever house is available. All studios at AKV have a balcony.

Great to hear all of the studios have balconies :) One of the things we really like about ASMusic is being able to step right outside in bare feet (instead of snow boots LOL) and enjoy the the weather.

I'm not surprised you've both recommended Jambo -- I've heard it's 1/2 mile to Kidani from there, and the buses only go 1 way (but I'm used to metric, so how far is that? like a 5 or 10 minute walk)

I know it's getting late to book this, but I've been watching the availability thread and so far so good. We'll be there late in *. so I know I have to get this taken care of before the end of * ie. before the leftover rooms go to CRO, so we've decided to have this done within a month, and we're not going to be too picky as long as we get our balcony :)

The availability thread is worthless to find out if something is available. It's only good to find out is something is not available. There may not be any available rooms left to turn over to DRC at 60 days out. They may already be booked. The time you plan to go is a fairly popular time because of school breaks and holidays.

This late, you may not have any choice in what type of studio you book OR even if it will be at the resort you want.

True -- but we won't know until we try. We're also fairly flexible about our dates, since we don't have our return flights booked yet. So maybe we'll have to stay a few extra days, if we can get something -- that's going to be really tough, but I'm sure we'll be ok with it. :goodvibes
