Help us choose a baby name

That is sooo funny that you mention those names. I have 4 sons and a very Irish sounding last name ( it's actually Scotch) so we looked for traditional Irish names when choosing we have Sean, Liam, Tiernan and Quinn. Others on my list were Seamus, Declan, and Ronan.

Although I am biased, Trevor is Irish, complements Connor pretty well (try saying the two names together out loud & see how you like the sound of it), & Trevor rolls off the tongue much easier than Tiernan. But again I am biased!

Yeah, I hear you loud and clear. 2 is my limit, for certain. I am just really thankful that I have been able to conceive, and with no real drama attached to the pregnancies. Blessings...perfect little blessing.

I love this subject because it makes me realize I am not alone. I used a family name for our son. It meant the world to my husband and I was happy with it. I tend to be a little boring in the boy name department... If we have another boy I am leaning toward Joshua. But my girl name is Addison. We are originally from Chicago and are huge Cubs fans Wrigley Field is on Clark and Addison. When ever I tell people that is my girl name they think it is from Greys anatomy.
I do love your choices I like Aiden but it is the #1 boys name right now if you look on the Social Security report of names. I LOVE Carter. We have friends that named there son that and now that i think about it there oldest boy is Conner. Funny..
Anyways Congratulations on your growing family babies truely are a wonderful miracle!! I think having a child has made me a much better person.
And God Bless your Husband. I always wanted to be a police officer. I have a BS in Criminal Justice but never followed my dream. I found a job I loved though and thats all that matters.

Addison, Madison...here is every other girl in the age range of 0-like 7 (overused is not even close to how used it is here in NY-NJ area). It's cute, but it again will be shortened for sure.
My dh is the most un-cop I've ever met..the nicest layed back guy there is. I think that its great that he's like that, to balance out some of the rotten one's you hear about.
If I were having a girl, the names that I loved were:
Liberty or Paige.

Actually, Wm. is very politically incorrect for an Irish Catholic -- my Dad was teased unmercifully for it. What my g'mother was thinking we will never know. The only thing worse would have been Oliver. (Naturally, I named DS after Dad, because I miss him. When in Ireland DS uses Liam, as it attracts less teasing.) On the other hand, it is very popular in Protestant families.

Naming traditions tend to run REALLY deep in Irish families. There are two feminine names that have been used in EVERY branch of EVERY generation of my father's family for over 400 years -- it is absolutely unthinkable to fail to use at least one of them if you have daughters. (My Dad used both, and tried to use both of them twice, in slight variation. Mom drew the line at 3.) If you call out one of these names at a family gathering at least 20 women will answer you. My mother's family does this with a couple of male names. In conversation, we qualify which person by saying either saying a parent's name or by using "our", as in "our John" or "Paddy's John". It works fine.

I think Heather is very pretty-- (of course- it's my DD's name)
Paige was my dog's name (we had her 14 years)

Congratulations! I'm all done have babies...would LOVE to have more, but can't...that's besides the point though. We had already decided on another boy's name before we found out we couldn't have anymore. He was going to be Noah. I really love that name.

We're done having babies, too. However, I would love to adopt. We decided NOT to know what gender our babies were, so we had boy and girl names picked out. For #2, we kept the boy name we had originally picked out. Anyway, we never did get to use it, and now we probably never will. Our boy name was Joah States. I know -- a bit odd, but we liked it. Joah was for my dad, Joseph, (loved my dad just didn't really care for the name. No offense to those with Joseph's out there.) and States is from dh's family. I think it was from when his family immigrated to the U.S.

My mother, sister, my dh's mom, and my favorite aunt all wanted a girl...as my 8 yr old niece is the only girl now! My brother that is 15mos older then me, is expecting a baby in March..and its a boy.(they really wanted a girl)
But I have said that I will never have a girl, because God knows that I have no control with shopping! And the littel outfits are to die for! I would surely be broke, if I was to have a girl. BOYS RULE

I don't know why I just thought I'd add this. We have a neighbor who used all family names for their several children. At times they were a bit creative, considering the source. Here they are (maybe they'll give you some ideas):

(girl) Carlie (after great-grandpa Carlise)
(girl) Remle (after grandpa Elmer--look at the spelling backwards)
(girl) Olivea (after great-grandma Olive)
(boy Hamon Augustus, called Gus (after after two different great grandfathers*)
(boy) Abel (after great-grandma Isabelle)
(girl) Rae (after grandpa Ray)
(girl) Loerene (a combination of both parents names)

*actually, all of their middle names are from someone else too.

My husband and I are having the same "discussion" about the name of our third son. The other two are Sean and Collin and we want to stay with an Irish name. The only one we can agree on is Aidan-even though I do not like that it a popular name. I wanted Quinn but my husband says he will get teased at school. Most of the other names suggested by the other posters are already taken by family members. The only other name I am considering now is Cian-but it sounds a lot like Ian my nephew. Everyone keep the suggestions coming.

Just had a dd 9 mos ago, but if she would have been a boy, probably would have gone with Owen.

I know you are all "traditioned out" but did you think about "Liam" it is a familiar version of "William" it does the honor and tradition thing, without being exactly the same "Liam Christopher" is quite nice.

We had a few boy names picked out we never got to use, I'll gladly share them with you. As for the ruling out of using similar sounding names because it will cause you to call them by their siblings names, don't worry. I can't tell you how many times I"ll call for one of my DDs and wind up calling her all of the other (3) names before getting to the right name. I think that just comes from having all girls and having four. Heck, I'm even guilty of including the dog's name occasionally.
