Help!! Travel agent increased bill by $1010.52 (UPDATE)

Hang in there! Your problem is why we don't deal with travel agents anymore. If we are using our DVC points, we work with them. Otherwise Lee does research on the web and calls the hotel, airline or whatever directly. Seems like she always gets a good deal.

Cindy,

This is suppose to be an enjoyable time, the anticipation, and planning. I hope everything gets worked out quickly.... I would still request a new TA, even if it was a DCL error... What ever happened to "THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT"? I work in customer service, and I wouldn't dream of treating my customers that way. I would be reprimanded if I did. Hold your ground. I sure things will work out.

Lisa

CINDY:

Anyone else notice pricing errors on the DCL website?

JUST SAW THIS THREAD POSTED THIS MORNING. CHECK IT OUT -- THEY ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS YOU ARE HAVING ABOUT PRICE INCREASES ON EXISTING RESERVATIONS!!!!

invaderzim, that is why I think it was a mistake on DCL's side. I really hope it is as simple as that.

Have a Happy 4th of July everyone!!!!!

Cindy

Ok looks like DCl may have made Some sort of Computer Mistake..
and this should be an Easy fix....

But I still would not Be happy with My TA for letting this happen..

I would have , Looked into the price increase issue before sending out paper work that included the increase....

and a few other problems with this Agent...

If My Agent SUEELLEN ever Did this I would be Very upset ...
I Know it would not Happen We use Pro's......

Best of luck ......

I've read this whole thread before I responded, and I have 2 observations!!

1) YOU called DCL directly. How long were you on hold? That amount of time is how much that TA *didn't* think you or your trip was worth. She was too BUSY taking care of clients. What are you---chopped liver?

2) She got 2 confirmations---one for $1000 more---which does she pass on to you? DUH? The most expensive with NO note that it may be wrong, and I'll be checking into it.

That TA irritates the heck out of me!! She couldn't be bothered to LOOK and THINK!! "What is going on here? Maybe my client is getting the wrong paperwork." Seems like her business philosophy is "garbage in/garbage out". Whatever comes across my desk gets shipped back out, even if I *should* catch the fact that its WRONG!!!! She's getting $$ to be the go between for YOU. That is her JOB! The ONLY reason for her to be there. That requires THOUGHT PROCESSES. If they are too busy, TOUGH! A lot of people would like to have a job and she's of the opinion that her job is where you just shove your problems off on the "buyer" and if they don't notice, oh well. Oh, where is my paycheck! Gotta go!! Never again would I use them!

AAA lost most of my business when I went in to get a triptik and they had just thrown it together, with no notes of contruction on our route at all. When I asked about it, they told me I could "look in our book and see for yourself." HUH?

Anyway, Cindy, pixie dust to you. And I'll be waiting to hear the end of this story!! Kelli

kellib36, When I called DCL, I didn't get put on hold for the next CM like you usually do, I got a CM immediately. She was able to pull up all my information and the call took about a total of five minutes. While she couldn't give me any amounts because of the TA/DCL confidentiately, she showed no increase in my confirmation except when I added on the REAS package back in February. Thats when I started to get really concerned, because DCL was saying there was no increase, yet my TA added it into the confirmation.

I also know that my TA didn't somehow miss the mistake, because she circled the amount on the confirmation, as if to says "Here is the new amount you now owe".

It does make me mad that she didn't even look into it until I called her. She had several days to look into it after she mailed the confirmation to me. Although, as I have said before, I don't think she should have even sent it to me without finding out why there were two confirmations (one with an increase).

I really believe my TA isn't as well informed about DCL as I had originally thought she was. After all, this was our fourth Disney Cruise I had booked with them. The third with this particular TA. She didn't even know that the soda was now free and that I should be getting an on board credit.

From now on, I will probably book my Cruises on my own. I do all our other trips on my own, but for some reason I felt more comfortable having a TA handle the cruises. Anyway, I will hopefully have it all taken care of tomorrow.

Happy 4th of July:wave2:

Cindy

I bet if you tell her you're transferring you reservation elsewhere you will get an answer REAL fast.

We always use Costco. You have to wait on hold a while to get through but the prices are the best and I've never had a problem with them.

Good Luck to you! When you speak to your TA I would let her know that you didn't apprecite her obvious neglect of your situation and that a letter to AAA will be written detailing your ressie and the problems with it. Even if the situation is reloved (as i am sure it will be) this needs to be brought to the higher ups attention!
:wizard: :wizard:

Cindy- Isn't it just nice knowing that you have about 50 people that would jump all over that TA for ya???? :teeth: We'd probably all really ENJOY doing that! :duck:

Pixie dust your way. I am sure this will work out in the end, but it doesn't sound like your TA gave the best possible service to you.

I can see why DCL does not want to give info directly to the customer if booking through a travel agent...I am sure they do not want to get in the middle of the transaction of this TA said/TA did.

Just a side note. In my job, we can't tell if anyone inquires about their account unless one of the customer service agents puts a comment/note in the record. A lot of times there is no need to put a comment on their account when it is a simple inquiry. So, just as a side note, your travel agent may have called to inquire and the CS agent did not put a note in the record.....I just can't see why she would lie about something so simple as a phone call.

Cindy,

I have been watching your situation for a few days and I have to say it's makes no difference who's fault it is. All that matters is that it get taken care of. Your TA is awful! She has no room to get upset with you for being involved in your vacation. I bet if it were her commission or pay and the amount was lower by $1000 she would jump right on that. How dare she give you a hard time! I would ask if you can transfer your cruise to another AAA office. Not just another TA but a new office all together! That way there is no chance that this woman could screw it up again! Also it shows her supervisor how she personally is driving business away. Sistuations like this really make me mad. I mean you have a problem, a $1000 problem and she has the nerve to come down on you! Don't get anything other than mad! This is your hard earned money and well earned vacation and you have the right to be involved in everything reguarding it! Sorry if this sounds mean but I have had similar problems with good service in the past so I get a little heated! Anyway I hope you enjoy your cruise!

So Cindy........

Do you have this worked out yet?

I have gone on two Disney Cruises and booked both with AAA. Not because of the prices because it seemed like every quote was similiar in the long run, even thru DCL. I chose AAA because of their refillable soda mug. My family are big time soda drinkers and we felt like we were saving $20 per person because that's how much I would have had to pay onboard for the program. On our first cruise we had 9 people so I felt like I was getting $180 and on our 2nd cruise we had 11 people so I felt like we were saving $220.

This past March I booked our 3rd cruise and searched the world over for the "best prices", including booking straight with DCL. Once again, I felt like AAA was my best option. So we booked with them. The other day when I found out that sodas were now offered on Deck 9 and not as a program I felt like this was "wonder"ful until I found out that AAA was going to give me $25 credit (It depends on the catagory of room as to what the credit is). I was very upset and I called my agent and she said there was nothing she could do. She had a cruise booked also with some friends and the credit was the same for her. I did not settle for this.

This past week I was looking thru some "old" mail and guess what I found? I survey from my local AAA office. I called the specialist and explained to her that I did not know which trip this survey was about and that I have always had excellent service with AAA and agent but I did have one issue now. I explained everything to her and casually mentioned cancelling and booking straight with DCL if they were only going to give me $25 per room. She asked me what I felt was fair. I told her that I thought $20 per person booked as of that day was fair and at that time we had 5 people booked. She gave me $100 shipboard credit!!!!

I honestly think that AAA will work with ya on this. They have means to make things right. Don't give up and stick up for yourself!!!!

Let us know how it turns out.

We were told we will receive $150 credit this coming trip ( aug. 7th, seven day/cat 7). We booked quite a while ago, when it was still the mug offer, they changed it recently and my understanding is amount is based on room; but I agree completely with your logic- that's how we feel too/ you should get "mug"credit for at least as many people booked in your stateroom . In our case, we make out quite well, but for other people, it doesn't seem quite fair! Glad they worked it out for you!

We have a 4 night booked with 2 category 10 (SPH) rooms. AAA was wanting to give me 2-$25 credits but now they are giving me a total of $100 credit.

Have we heard from Cindy yet?

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't posted. You see my TA originally told me she would call me Monday or Tuesday at the latest. Well, we weren't going to wait for her to call us, so DH called this morning and they are closed today. AHHHHHH! You think that she would know whether they were going to be open today or not. Guess I will have to wait until tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I won't be home until the afternoon tomorrow. I'll let you know as soon as I find out anything.

Thanks,:)

Cindy
