help- tell me it will be ok! (car rental)

We get to Orlando this Fri. I have 1 ressie with National which was not that great($300 for 11 days). We get in at 230 pm, so I am hoping that will help.

Everything else I have checked is sky high.

I have been reading stories about the cars all being gone, and I am about to have a panic attack.

We are staying off site, and going to the beach for 2 days, so not having a car is not an option!

Anyone have any suggestions? On the bright side, at least I will be panicking about this instead of the plane crashing!

I too am really worried now about our reservation with National. We get in Monday 10/18 and are staying off site for 3 days, so we really need a car.

We have had experiences with Alamo (which use the same cars as National) in which all of the cars in our class were gone and the selection was very sparse. In all cases, the garage attendant just had us pick a car from the next class up with no problem. Once it was all the way up from economy to a Vibe because there were so few cars left. Priceline is pre-paid, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

We are also arriving Friday and will be there around 2:30pm. I have a intermediate reserved for 10 days for $235. We are staying off site the first week and we do have to have a car. I guess we will find out Friday afternoon.

MAybe we can triple team them! I am arriving Friday around 1:30 as well. I have a ressie for an SUV (I hope) I haven't checked this board in about a week and now my stomach is in knots!!

Aww crap!

I haven't really been paying that much attention to this board, but am now worried. We have a "QuickRent" with National this coming Wednesday, and now I'm a little worried. We are staying on site, so the rental is not a MUST, and worst case we'll take a taxi.

I guess there's nothing to do except wait and see?

My flight doesn't arrive until Friday at 7:30pm so I hope something will be left!!! I've had my reservation since June!!

There's nothing more I (and everyone else) can do except hope for the best!!!!

I called National today and told them I had heard that there were people not getting their rentals cars and I was concerned about this. She said they had problems a couple of weeks ago(but it seems like someone just posted that week that they had trouble?), but that everything was fine now, and I would not have a problem getting a car.

Otherwise, I will be looking for all you guys and we can CONVINCE them to find us all cars!

I just got back and had rented with AVIS. I arrived at the counter at 10 pm and there was a sign saying..."There was no more cars available without a reservation" So if you were walking up and trying to get one you would have a problem. BUT with a reservation it was quick and very painless.
Awesome service..very quick at the counter and a brand new 2005 Malibu with 177 miles on it. Wow I loved 417 that night.

This was my first time rented a car and would do it again based off my experience.
Have faith and things will be fine.

The only thing we've ever had happen with Avis when cars are scarce (i.e. around two of the hurricanes) is that we've had to wait a bit. Both times we had a pre-paid Priceline ressie. Once it was a 45 minute wait and once only 15 (and a free upgrade). They were apparently bringing the cars from another location. Normally there is no wait at all.
