Help! SWA or Delta?

I want to fly from Sacramento to Orlando at the end of January.

SWA just released their flights and they are higher than I expected ($400), but the time choices are good. I would have a direct flight with one stop, but I can't figure out where it stops. I want to make sure it's not a city with snow potential.

Delta has a flight I could take too. It connects through Atlanta. Delta's prices are great (under $300), and they just dropped them. Yesterday they were about $350.

But I've read on this board about unhappy Delta fliers.

So would you take the more expensive SWA ticket with the hope of it dropping (I have the DING) or risk the cheaper Delta ticket.

I think chances are good that if Delta is dropping its prices at Sacramento, then SWA will do the same soon.

My opinion is that if you can get within $25 of Delta with a SWA ticket, and odds are good you will, take SWA. True, you may not know where you're stopping with the SWA ticket, but you do know you won't stop in Atlanta, which is about the worst airport in the country for layovers.

I have a lot of problems with Delta, and many of them center around their stopping in Atlanta with seemingly every flight.

Just call Southwest, they'll tell you where the flight stops. I would prefer Southwest to Delta when booking 5 months in advance, because their tickets are a little more flexible, you get full credit for a year if you need to change your tickets where as with Delta they'll charge you $100 per person to make a change. I've seen people change THREE times in five months and yes, you pay the change fee three times!

Just call Southwest; they'll be glad to give you the information you want.

I'd also take Southwest over Delta; their on-time record and flight-cancellation probabilities are far better than Delta's.
