Help! Stuck Drain plug in kitchen sink!

So I was cleaning potatoes getting ready to for dinner. I put the drain plug in so I could clean them all at one time. Well, now the "drain plug" (rubber stopper) over the garbage disposal is stuck. I can turn it in a circle, but can't get a good grip to pull it out.
Any ideas?!

This happens to me all the time! I get out my metal serving tongs (metal ice tongs might work if you have them) and use those to pull it off. Sometimes I can't do it and have to have DH try, he's taller so he can get a better angle.

Yep. This has happened to me. I've used pliers to grab it and pull. I've found that it also helps to put pressure on one edge so that the opposite side comes up and breaks the seal. I hope that last bit makes sense.

If you've got an ice pick, insert it down one side and angle it up until the vacuum releases; then you should be able to lever it up with a couple of butter knives.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that this happens to! I use a dinner knife to pop it out.

Man this thing really has a suction! I have tried all the tips except for the pliers (don't know where DH put them lol)

I just do the knife too. Just take a butter knife and slide it under, then break the seal and stick my finger in and pop it out. Works every time.

You can also use a bathroom plunger(clean) to get it out! It worked for me! Mine couldn't even spin in the place. The suction is powerful.

LOL I was going to say the same thing, if their drain plug is still stuck almost 6 years later..they better call a plumber! Leave it to a brand new poster to bump an old one and create a Zombie thread

Hi, you need a cheap plunger from the hardware store. Get one wider than the sink mouth, place it over the plug you want to remove and just down-thrust it. It pops right open.

It's not unusual. A newbie comes here and does a search (well, that' may be a little unusual) for a subject they're having issues with. And a thread pops up. The date of the thread is in little tiny letters, so poster doesn't realize they haven't found a very current discussion going on and just replies to it.

Which would make sense if they were searching something disney related. However, opening an account on a disney forum to ask a questions about a kitchen drain? Just very weird.

Well, the community board is for whatever anyone wants to talk about. They may have been casting about in various social sites for the problem.
