OK, so now I know first-hand how busy Disney can be...

So, I booked a three night stay in May at POFQ for me, DW and DS9. Thanks in part to a situation I explained in another thread, I have to book another night...

I called first thing this morning, and was told there were no rooms available at POFQ for the night I needed. Looking around, she said there were hardly any rooms available anywhere!! (of course, this is for a military rate...regular rate rooms are probably still available)

The only options I had were to book a one night stay at CS, and move to POFQ for my regular reservation, or book the entire stay at a POR Royal Room.

My choices come down to this - spend an additional $168 for the one night stay at CS, or spend an additional $248 and switch my reservation to the POR Royal Room for the entire stay.

I kind of like the idea of checking out CS for a night...but we will not have any time to enjoy it, and the move in the middle of one of our park days might be a hassle. Will Disney move our stuff for us? They are booked as two separate reservations. Also, the Royal Rooms look nice, but are they that much better than a regular room?

Any thoughts or advice?? I need to make this decision ASAP! Thanks!!

If it were me, I'd buck up the $250 to avoid the hassle of switching resorts...I know people do it, and like it, but it's not our style. I want to unpack and relax.....

I would ask myself if the $80 difference between the 2 options is worth not having to change resorts.

I think it is. If it were a few more days longer trip, maybe not. But only 4 nights, opt for the Royal treatment. :)

You could also check and see if a pofq room is avail at rack rate- might still be two ressies but you could let them know at check in and they can usually keep you in the same room

I would pay the extra and have the convenience of unpacking and relaxing, as opposed to unpacking and relaxing ... then stressing over packing (did I remember everything?) and moving just for one night.

Thanks for the quick replies...it looks unanimous!

I'm spending the money and booking at POR for a Royal Room with Garden View for my entire stay!

I'm happy and sad at the same time...

So, if anyone sees a short haired guy wandering around POR May 5-9, picking up loose change on the sidewalk, it's probably me! :rolleyes1

I have a couple of suggestions.

(1) Is your room type available through the Spring special offer: http://bookwdw.reservations.disney....romotionCode=fy12q2q3room&market=fy12q2q3room ? It might save you some money over the Royal Room.

(2) Book at a Value resort for your extra night. There are only 3 of you so you won't be too cramped. Disney will transfer your luggage to POFQ for free.

(3) Downgrade to a Value resort for the whole time. This will probably result in you paying as much for 4 days as you were for 3 days in a Moderate.

(4) Do you have a car? You say that you are going to Universal. If so, you can stay off-site using Priceline of Hotwire and book a cheapie hotel.

(5) Lastly (and probably the best choice) is to rent DVC points for a studio at Saratoga Springs which currently has availability for your dates (no other DVC resort does, BTW). Your dates would be 63 points and you can go over to the rent/trade board and rent them for about $11 per point for a total (including taxes) of $693 which is the equivalent to about $155 per night pre-tax. Here is a link to the DVC Rent/Trade Board: http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29 .

SSR is pretty close to POFQ so you're not too far away from your original loaction, the studios are bigger than the rooms at POFQ, they have a microwave and toaster in the room, they have balconies, they have a fold out couch that makes the room feel even bigger when it's folded up, and the main pool is better than the main pool at POFQ.
