HELP room code experts - RPR

Yippee....we are finally going to stay on-site @ Universal!!!! but I need help with rates (RPR).

We are going President's Weekend (2/14 - 2/16/04) for 2 nights. Just to be safe, I booked a standard room for the nights I want ($219/night). CSR said no rates were available yet for AAA, FanClub or Entertainment.

I've looked at US's Vacations (fanclub code) and have found the same room with either a meal or W&W ticket for an average of $216 per night including taxes. (there are 3 of us & we always eat @ HRC anyhow so the meal inclusion is a plus for us.) Unfortunately the packages are not 100% refundable.

I don't know if the vacation booking is a good deal. What types of discounted room rates have they had in the past for President's Weekend?

Do you think I should book the vacation? Or keep my room only ressie and keep checking for the discounts?

Check the date and rate thread to see if anyone got discounts this year. I'm pretty sure I've read about people getting discounts at Easter - so I'd think you could get them in Feb. This early in the game I would definitely hold out for discounts.

Maybe check here and someone will have a rate for Pres Day weekend 2003. http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=187829 We're staying the week before Easter and have a $125 waterview rate (entertainment rate). Standard would have been $110, but no entertainment rates left for that.

Keep checking, I have two rooms for six nights during Easter at the RP for $125 a night using the Entertainment rate.

I looked at the thread above and although no one quoted a rate for Sat or Sun, they did quote Monday. So I'm taking your advice and keeping the room only ressie. I will then check back periodically for discounts.

Our DD turns 16 on this trip so I'm hoping once discounts come out, I can nail a good HRH rate.
