HELP - Rental House was Sold

Hi,

I hope that I'm freaking out for no reason - here's the story

We booked a rental home in April 2004 for Spring Break 2005. Have a contract, and made a deposit. Went to check the house's website as I often do and the site is gone! There is only a message stating the house has been sold and the site is closed Called the owner at work (the only number that I have) the receptionist that he was out of town, but I left a message anyway. His secretary called back and relayed a message that all is well and that there is no need for panic. All current contracts will be honored. What I'm wondering is, why did he not notify, either via email or phone the change in ownership - is he thoughtless or a crook? The final balance is due 2/10/05.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Lisa,
this is happening a lot these days as the value of the homes around Disney has skyrocketed...We sold our home in Emerald Island in May with all contracts in place and it has worked out just fine. In fact the new buyers are delighted to have you as it means money in their pocket...If you want to make sure find out what management company is taking care of your home and contact them to make sure that the rentals have been continued....

I am sure all will be OK...worst case senario is a refund a new home...there are literally thousands to choose from if needed...

the vacation home we stayed in last year was sold--in fact, the closing was set for right smack in the middle of our vacation week.

they wanted us to move to another home, but since we had already stayed in this home in the past and knew what we were getting, we didn't want to change. everyone was accomodating and it did not interfere with our stay at all.
