HELP! RABBITS are eating my plants!!!

We actually have a rabbit haouse in our garden! There is an old tree stump in there and the rabbits have burroughed into it and haev set up housekeeping, this year I planted nothing because I just don't have the time to keep up with t all. My DH wants to pur concrete down the hole and into the stump but I can't bear the thought that there might be babies in there when he does it and that will kill them. As much as the bunnies annoy me, I just can't hurt them.

Call it a day and let the bunnies have some lunch? :teeth:

lol Sorry, nothing constructive here.. It just confuzzles me caring so much about a plant that cute little bunnies are pests! Can anyone explain?

I would have to wait until after the rabbits are not there. We had birds come into a bathroom vent several years ago and had birds mites, I think they were called, in our bathroom. We had a cover installed over the vent, but after the babies hatched since I couldn't stand the thought of trapping the babies, as annoying as the mites were. So I understand your thoughts.

I haven't had the rabbits go after my garden, for some reason, but if they did I wouldn't mind planting extra and sharing. I do share my strawberries with the chipmunks and my raspberries with I guess the birds since I didn't net them this year. But the stinker rabbits chewing down the blueberry plants was one step too many--I'll share berries, but eating the plants wasn't going to do any of us any good.

When I planted cherry trees, I did plant 2--not for cross pollination since they are self pollinating, but because I figured I'd be sharing with birds when the trees mature, so I might as well plant twice as many as I'll need! :rotfl2:

Looks like the guy we used to live next door to!!! He used to scare away the ground hogs, and any other animals that came into his yard. He had a big garden, but didn't want to share. We haven't lived in the house for 6 years, but word is that recently a deer came into his backyard and he took the deer down. :sad2: And then went door to door and offered the meat to the neighbors. Guess he would have skipped asking us since we're vegetarian. Glad I'm not still living there or I would have lost my lunch over that one!

:scared1: A snake is taking care of the rabbits in our garden!!

I will tell you why I don't want them eating my stuff.

It is not a garden that I have, it is the Landscaping for my house!!! Stay away from that. We do not expect to pour lots of $$$$$ into our yard/home's landscaping to have cute little rabbits eat it all.

I see your point, but hopefully you see mine too

I haven't read all the replies, but here's what I've just heard recently about this topic:

A few days ago at the pool, one mom was telling us how she & her DH were having the same problem & someone told her to go buy rubber snakes & put them in her gardern...that the rabbits are afraid of them. I have no idea how it worked out. The last I heard, her DH was off to KB Toys to purchase some toy rubber snakes!
Snakes swallow new born baby rabbits whole.

Oh, I do!! No flames at all here :sunny: I suppose since I am still an apartment dweller with no yard to take care of I just don't get it yet! ;)

Try plastic toy snakes. Apparently they think that they are real and stay away. Like others I got a natural spray from the garden centre. I am at work right now and can't think of the name.
