HELP? Q about points status after cancelling vacation

Sorry, but I'm dense regarding the whole points status thing. I have an upcoming Boardwalk Villas vacation in May 2011 that I booked using 2011 points (April UY), however, I may need to cancel. What will the status of my points be?
Would I be able to bank them into 2012?
Or are these points forever stuck in 2011?
Are they considered 'borrowed' if I booked this trip in Sept 2010 even though they were 2011 points?
I would cancel before the 30 day mark.

If the points were not borrowed, which yours weren't, and you cancel before 30 days, they stay in the use year and yes should be bankable.

The main thing is to cancel before the 30 days.

The only points that get stuck are borrowed points, and points put into holding. If you should cancel after 30 days they would go into holding.

The thing to remember is, it is not when you book your trip, it is when you "take" your trip.

For an April UY, you can bank your points through the end of November.

Yes. The banking deadline for your April 2011 points is the last day of November 2011.

The only exceptions for that would be if you borrowed 2012 points into 2011, or the points had been banked into 2011 from 2010. In either of those cases, they would remain 2011 points.

No. WHEN you make the reservation has nothing to do with which UY points are used -- that is determined by the UY the trip occurs in. This trip is within your 2011 UY, so normally 2011 points would have been used.
