I am torn right now, SWA and Jetblue have similiar fares for our flight, I like JB schedule better, is one better/worse than the other as far as keeping to original schedules? Should I worry too much about flight times right now,or will they be changing anyway?
Who's got a better rep for credits if a flight price drops? (or doesn't ever drop at all) any help here? THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!:thumbsup2

I think they're about the same for sticking to schedules once published. (That's why they don't publish schedules as far in advance as other carriers.) I don't know about credits - I think JB is as good as SW, but that's an assumption. I do know that with JB you get inflight entertainment on the larger planes (not on the Embraers, right?) but on Southwest, you get 2 free checked bags per person. JB has assigned seating, Southwest doesn't.

If any of those are dealmakers/breakers for you, then your choice should be easy. Otherwise, it boils down the schedule.

No experience with JetBlue, but Southwest rarely changes their published schedule--thank goodness! And luggage flies free--two per paying passenger. :)

The primary negative is complete lack of in-flight entertainment. Basic non-alcoholic beverages are free, as well as the usual packet of peanuts or pretzels (depends on the flight).

It really depends on which airline suits your needs better.

The main thing I like about JB better than SW is that you can pick your seats at the time you purchase your tickets. Also each seat has DirectTV, one checked bag free, and free drink and snack

SW....rarely, if ever, changes their flight times. Mechanical failure would be the only reason. You get two free checked bags. They depart and arrive ontime consistently.

JB....has changed my flight times in the past, but not a lot. You only get one free checked bag. But you do have inseat entertainment..priceless for me.

I use these two airlines interchangably. In fact, this summer, all three of us (myself, dd, and dh) are flying TFGreen to MCO on SW. A week later, dh flies home to TFGreen. But, when dd and I fly home, 12 days later, we are flying JB We got a terrific fare, about half the cost of SW's, on JB. And since dh is already home, we don't have to fly into our originating airport..he can come in and pick us up at the other one.

thanks Goofytink, that's a lot like what I was thinking- the JB is about $20 less than SW right now,and I'm worried about selling out- ugh,I may have to take the hit on my cc to pay now,and hope for a drop later...JB doesn't even start flights from my airport till the month before,so maybe that's why the fares aren't moving at all yet.
Don't know why I'm worrying so much, maybe b/c up till this year airfare has been so ridiculously cheap,it was an afterthought....;)

I am a JB fan anyway. However, SW is stopping nonstop flights to MCO out of Dulles in the Fall. Therefore, it makes the SW vs. JB debate easier.

This is not a reason I would choose one airline over another...however, the free snacks on JB are great...you have a choice of:

Terra Blues® Chips
Doritos® Munchies Mix
Linden's Chocolate Chippers
All Nuts roasted cashews
Stauffers® Animal Crackers
Chifles® Plantain Chips

And, they are always giving my children several bags (which can be good and bad).

Also, my husband loves Dunkin Donuts coffee...and that's what they serve.

I like Arizona Iced Tea...and they serve that along with Coca Cola products.

I like knowing what seat I will be sitting in ahead of time as well as the inflight entertainment!!

Have a great trip.

They also have the inflight tv and radio on the Embraers as well. JetBlue you also get checked luggage with no fee, granted only 1 bag vs. the SW 2 bags.

For credits you need to call JB when you notice a price drop and the provide it in the form of future flight credit to be booked within 1 year.

I prefer Jetblue. The entire call 24 hours before for a good seat on Southwest always rubbed me the wrong way. Jetblue also has great snacks. Sounds silly, but when you are flying out at 6am, that cup of Dunkin Donuts (or several) is just perfect!

Jet Blue does have a $100 change fee, SW has no change fee.

As far as credits for price drops, yes JB does them too. You have to call them, and they'll issue a credit to be used within a year. Sometimes it's just a little, but they'll credit back multiple times if the price keeps dropping.
