I have been to US Hollywood, but never to any of the Universal Orlando parks. We're going to be visiting US Orlando (can't do IOA because my son is just a couple of inches too short still for the *good* rides, but would squeak into RRR) for one day.

What is the cheapest way/place to buy ONE DAY tickets? Anything better than the $73 on Universal's web site?

Also, is the meal pass any good? It seems like it is about the price of 1.5 meals, so with 2 meals in a day we'd be doing well on it. Is that the case? Is it easy to use? Is the food at the participating restaurants good?

Thanks for any help you can give!

For the tickets...you might want to check with AAA (if you're a member) to see what their rate is for the one day ticket. Are you getting the one park or two park one day ticket? Make sure you get the ticket that you're looking for.

The meal deal is generally not a great deal. The restaurants choices are few but the food is decent...typical theme park fare. The only restaurant I would recommend that's also on the meal deal is Louie's at the Studios which is very good. There are other places I would rather go to but they aren't on the meal deal. If you like to eat then it's a good deal.

Thanks for the reply. We only want one park, since we can't go to IOA and leave my son behind while we ride the cool coasters. Hopefully next time we're in the area he'll be tall enough.

I'll check out AAA prices... is their discount better than the Universal website advance purchase discount? What if we went to Florida and bought Universal tickets there in person?

The online prices are better than buying them in person. Sometimes the AAA price includes the tax so you are saving a bit there.

we enjoyed USH last summer, totally different vibe between the 2 parks imo; both special in their own right.

re the meal plan, imo i'd hold out for meal @ finnegans (reasonable prices, sit down meal, large portions). You can time it right & stroll out & catch the blues brothers show across the street

and maybe grab pizza @ louies later, some of the best we've eaten in Orlando, way better than what we've eaten @ WDW. We weren't happy w/quality @ monster's cafe or mels, def not quite the quality of the CS location we ate @ USH (can't remember the name, had dinosaur mural on wall:confused:)

Regarding the meal deal - sounded like a great plan to me. I did not have it, but others in my party did and I must say...it was pretty disappointing. Can't remember the restaurant we ate in - it was in IOA near Spiderman - and nothing to write home about. I just picked on their plates and it really was not so good. I have found the food at Disney much better.

However, in the evening while at HHN, we did have a sit-down dinner at Finnegans and it was great!

Undrcovertourist.com sells 1 day/1 park tickets for $ 72 for adults & $ 60 for children - the prices include the tax and shipping by regular mail. If you get the mousesavers.com newsetter & use its link to undercovertourist.com, the prices are $ 1 cheaper per ticket.
